Hello Everybody,

My name is Tim. I just retired from the AF and moved to Denver, CO for a new life. While moving up here, my wife's family worked a deal with me on a 1965 Marauder that was left on their property. It isn't in horrible shape, will need some minor body work which is fine since my father-in-law does bodywork. Car has a 390 with C6. I have some ideas but really depends on how hard parts are going to be to find (Which sounds like it will). I also have a 95 Cobra and a 2012 FX4 (my retirement gift to me ).

Well congrats on the retirement. That car can be pretty nice if you clean it but I have no idea about parts. Im sure you can make it more modern if some parts are unavailable. Good luck with it

Yeah, I planned on doing a Restomod. I am debating throwing my 3v motor in it or rebuilding the 390 and doing some newer mods to it. Kinda waiting to see what the future looks like for me and my wife as she will either get a job or finish school. I want to pick up a 70 Mustang coupe and then I will know what I am building for both cars.

Here is a pic of both. The Cobra was getting towed to my buddies shop to get the new rear put in it. It had all the windows busted out of it at another shop so I had to pull all of the top trim to get them out. The car will be a drag radial car. The Marauder has been sitting for a few years. The previous owner passed away. The widow gave it to my wife's grandpa who didn't want it.

Congratulations on your new arrivals. I highly recommend joining the International Mercury Owners Assoc. www.mercuryclub.com They list every possible source for old parts--amazing what you will find. This looks like an "original resto" candidate, but whatever you do, enjoy it. I've had 12 Mercurys and enjoyed every one--somehow I missed the old Marauders---brought an X-100 home, but wife wanted a 4-door--guess who won--(we celebrate our 60th Anniversary on Jan 7th)--guess compromise does work. Good Luck, Maury

Welcome to the site!

Nice original Marauder!!

If I were you, I'd rebuild the 390 FE .20 over with a 428 crank (= 410 cid) along with some Edelbrock aluminum heads & intake.

Relatively cheap to do and it will really wake up the old 390!

In this magazine article they turned a junkyard 390 into a 445 cid FE and made 500 HP...
