I am curious to how well it stands up to the posted 17(city); 23(highway)
for people who don't know how to calculate it..........
add up how many miles you get to full tank of gas then divide by 19 :D
Also, try to remember if you did more city or highway traffic.

Just shy of 2000 miles on mine, and I'm averaging 16.9mpg, all city driving. I expect that to rise as the motor gets broken in.

I think you're supposed to take the mileage you get on your trip meter divided by how many gallons you put into the tank when you fill up...

dark98stang: you don't buy a car like this for MPG!(haha) If you are kind to it you can get good mileage. I put mine in my fleet program at work. When I last look my high was 20.3 and 11.2 when I was in a hurry! I have been on a trip yet more than 50 miles one way. Only have 1100 on the clock after almost 3 months.

I know that
That's why I am asking how close the Marauder comes to the suggested MPG.

I watch my mpg Donald's way...
When I first got my MM, I got a 16-18 mpg, but the car was new, and new to me. I couldn't resist playing with her, which isn't good for mpg.
As we got past that, mpg seemed to get better, but then I upped the gear to 4:10. Again, things dropped a bit because I was playing around. Now, after 3 weeks of trying to get a mpg figure for my daily city driving, I'm seeing 20-21 mpg on the street.
The gear change moves this 4200 lb. car off the line a lot easier, and I don't have to stuff my foot into it anymore, even a drive away from a traffic light is smoother, and easier. Colder winter air also contributes to improved mpg, I suppose.
I haven't any long distance highway figures with the 4:10 yet, but I don't expect that to be outrageous either, maybe 24-26 mpg, just a guess.
Overall, I'm seeing an improvement in mpg with the changes I've made, and mostly because I'm not scooting around anymore, trying to prove how well my MM performs. Now I know it, and my driving is more conservative. Spring may tell another story...
22 mpg today.

Gees! I've got 3900 miles on oine since 11/02 when I bought her. I run 100+ miules daily round trip. Most highway miles, and have yet to see anything less than 19.6 MPG. The car isn't babied, but I don't flog it around either. Might be a different story after Christmas week when I get the gears installed. Also picked up a set of the pre-production tips that JFB was selling and will have them installed also. Hopefully, the sound will return to the pre-production levels. Got another spoiler coming from FPN, last one was damaged in shipment. Another install for the Christmas week.

Getting 22 when I get on the highway. Averaging 19.1.

With around 3100 miles on the clock; 17mpg, thats 90% city driving. I don't know about highway, just haven't had the joy of a really long trip yet. I don't drive it to empty so the most I pumped in is 17 gallons and fractions with about 285 to 295 miles for the effort. :)

4900 miles here and at last night's fill-up I calculated 17.9 MPG. I've been averaging right around 18 with a mix of city and highway driving.
On trips (long haul, all highway) I'm getting almost 25 MPG.
With about 8400 mi. on it now, I'm getting about 17.4 overall. I did have one tank that was about 20.8, but that was all highway driving. My driving is about 70% highway.

Took a trip last week, averaged 20.4 mpg at an average of 85-90 mph, city driving about 16.5 mpg. Have 6000 moles on it, and ride it kind of hard in the city, lots of stop and go.

I drive 50 miles a day round trip to work, all city driving and get consistent 19 mpg.
Best gas milage car I've ever owned :)
It's probably not a good idea to run your tank near empty. You should always have at least 1/4 of a tank of fuel because the fuel cools the fuel pump in the tank or you may experience pre-mature pump failure.
You don't have to run the tank completely dry to do the fuel economy test. All you have to do is fill up the tank completely and reset your trip odometer. At half tank, fill up completely again and make note of total miles on the odometer and then devide by what ever the fuel bill shows for total gallons pumped (which reflects consumption for the miles used for the test; will be around half the capacity of the tank). At least this way your calculations regarding the gallons used will be 100% accurate and you will be saving your fuel pump.
I use this method almost all the time as my driving habits are pretty standard. Therefore if I notice I drastic change in my economy, I then know that there is likely something wrong under the hood.
My Impala SS gets about 15-16 in the city but when I am easy on her on the highway I get 25. The SS was rated for 17 city 25 highway but it is important to note that the SS was considered a Caprice Classic (Caprice Classic LS in 1994) by the EPA and therefore the Impala SS moniker was never considered a different model. The Impala SS was the WX3 option package on a Caprice Classic LS. It was the Caprice Classic LS with a LT1 engine that was rated at 17/25. What this means is if you read the fine print in the EPA box, it will say that fuel economy can vary with driving habits, environmental conditions and additional non-standard options on the car.
In my case, the WX3 (SS) package adds about 200 lbs of weight totalling approx. 4218lbs. The steeper gears/tire diameter difference vs. the regular Caprice make a difference. The tire width of the SS tire (P255 vs P215) adds more rolling resistance aswell. After these elements, the 17/25 rating can't be expected to be reached regularly not taking in account for other driving style/environmental factors.
I imagine the Maruader model works the same way. They are all Grand Marquis' with some sort of package denoting "Marauder". This is a way to keep the EPA ratings better and abide by the CAFE easier.
As a general rule for lead-foots, you take the city overall projected rating and -1 and you will get your realistic average and anything else is bonus. However with overdrive transmissions and fuel injection technology, there is no reason not to achieve close to the projected highway rating.

My MM has 6K miles and is driven 50 miles round trip daily to work... That is in Atlanta traffic with a mix of stop and go lights as well as a little open 50 - 60 MPH running... the ***ulative (overall) MPG to date is 18.36. My worst tank was a 16.3 MPG and the best was 20.5 MPG. I have not done a road trip yet to see what true highway only will be...
I have written a basic Excel Spreadsheet that figures all this for me... If anyone wants a copy let me know and I'll be glad to send the template...

First tank at 294.5 miles=18.35mpg.
Worst MPG = 16.95
Best MPG = 24.74
Average over 4376 miles =19.38

With mods now done, and 6000 miles on the clock, I get about 19 on long trips and 15 around town. Still better than my Impala, which only gets about 12 - 13 around town.

With Reinhart package, I'm consistently getting 25 MPG on highway averaging 70 to 75 MPH. This is with stock gears and 17.5+ (depending on how heavy my foot is) in city.. Mileage is 4700 and always use premium fuel. Next oil change switching to AMSOIL all around...
