The other day I noticed my traction control dash light came on for a few seconds after I started the car up and began to move my car from my parking lot into my bay. After starting the car up I always turn traction control and O/D off before even moving so I know it wasn't seeing a tire spin or anything.

This morning while traveling about 50 mph the traction control and ABS lights both came on at the same time and remained on until I got to work about 20 mins later. I tried pushing the traction control switch several times and nothing happened (as far as the lights going off or flashing).

Anyone have an idea of what the issue might be?

Did you rotate your tires? ;)

You'll need to get a code scanner that will read the ABS module. I bought one to investigate a problem on Mary's car and found it was the LR wheel-speed sensor. Easy fix.

Check all the speed sensors. Have heard that the mounting bolts for the ones at the rear wheels come loose.

I had that same problem! My E brakes fell apart!

Sounds like WSS or VSS

Its going to be one of the wheel speed sensors, you will need a scanner that can talk to the abs module.

Sounds like WSS or VSSIf the VSS signal were missing the speedometer wouldn't work.

some people call the wheel speed the vehicle speed thats kind of what i meant. modern cars use both as an input for speedo so if it was a newer car the speedo should still work. also uses like rpm and other stuff but cant remember everything off the top of my head.

On the Panther platform, WSS and VSS are derived from two different places and are used for separate purposes...WSS from each wheel for ABS and TC, while VSS comes from the transmission and is used for the speedo. Using the two interchangeably is not accurate and may confuse people.

The codes I got were.

C1222 - Wheel Speed Error
C1299 - LR (Left Rear) Wheel Speed Sensor Input Signal Fault

There you go!

You can test the sensor with an ohmmeter...the plug is under the bottom of the back seat, under the soundproofing on the floorpan. Soon as I get home from work I'll look up the resistance reading.

Got under the car, found the sensor was loose. Tightened up and going to road test.

Bingo!

Bet that fixed it.

No light on, I guess that's what the problem was.

I was just going to suggest that might be the problem.

I borrowed the Snap On scanner from the tech next door to my work and he even suggested I drive around with it hooked up to check the actual reading over it and could very well be just loose. Glad that's all it was.

Note to future searchers/readers, physically check the sensor on the back of the wheel hub to see if it loose as a first step.
