Had a great turnout of Marauders today !! .... and the weather was nearly perfect. I'd estimate that we had about 100 people on site for the days activities. Lots of foot traffic and great visibility for the MM.Net gang. :up:

I just wanted to say that my friend and I were completely blown away by the turnout you guys had for this event. The only hotel that is giving a group rate is the Central Hotel in Harrisburg, like last year. Check thread for info. I did check a Super 8 on Route 11, Hampton Harrisburg West, Hampton Carlisle--none were doing groups. I'm reserved at the Hampton Carlisle, but I am still checking around for something less expensive, but still somewhat close to fairgrounds.....

Hotel Carlisle is fine. I stayed there in 2008 or 2009. It is just an older place and is starting to show its age. Some rooms have reportedly has some HVAC problems and some may also have plumbing problems. My room had none of those problems so it is just the luck of the draw so to speak. Prices are more reasonable than other places in the area. Advantage is that the Hotel Carlisle has a restaurant and a bar on site. In fact, we have rallied there for the past several years. So, it saves a drive if you "live" there. ;)

Charlie I am booked at the Hampton Inn where you stay however I am switching to the Central Hotel in Harrisburg (MV-IX hotel) hell it almost 1/2 price of the Hampton Inn.

You need to try the "Dirty Hoe". Hoegaarden and Framboise Lambic (Belgian Raspberry Beer). That was my favorite during MV9. :D

I really wanna make it up there this year since I missed out last year. Summer semester begins on the 4th, but I'm sure missing class(es) on the 7th shouldn't be a big deal. Right now, I'm thinking the following is what my plans would be:

Arrive Friday night ~ 6pm, depart Sun morn to head back home.

I won't be able to commit until after registration is open for summer semester and I pick my classes (April 3rd)...just hope this won't be too late to register, reserve hotel room, etc....

The dinner for Saturday night sounds awesome; I love Italian food...who am I kidding....I love food, period! :D

Team Shelby at the 2012 Carlisle Ford Nationals looks like they have a swag.........that video of there cars all coming in is amazing . I hope we have the same look when all the MM come into the show.

?? That was the TOTAL # of Marauders that showed up last year.

So far for this year, we have 15 confirmed (technically 17 b/c Paul and I haven't voted :o),13 that will register soon and 16 that will have to wait until last minute to decide b/c of any potential scheduling conflicts. That's a possible 45 MM right there.

Of course the total # does rise as we get closer to the event and people know their schedules a little better.
Hopefully we have a good a turn out this year as we did last year, if not better. :beer:

How does this meet typically go down? Everyone rolls in on Friday and leaves Sunday, I'm guessing, but what typically happens Friday, Friday night, Saturday, Sat nite?


When using the Gate-n-go pre-register webpage, I assume I choose the Carlisle Ford nationals showfield option; what is our official club name? Does this automatically enter me into any kind of contest? What contests will there be? Things I should bring with me to be well-prepared?


It's gonna be ~ 8hr drive (500mi) for me, so if I'm going to be in some sort of contest, I'd like to know so I can prep my MM accordingly.


I won't be missing any class time; my first summer class is from 2-430, M-Th. Also, if there's a decent amount of MMs driving up from VA, I'd give some thought to driving up to VA Thurs after class, spend the night, and meet up with those going up the next day. My main route will be I-81 though, so I don't know if this makes the idea possible.

Kyle, I'll let some of the "Regulars" chime in on how the meet typically goes down. From my experience, I rolled in on Saturday mid-morning and parked up on the hill with the rest of the Marauders. The other hotel thread Ms. Denmark said that they are leaving the hotel at 8 AM Sharp!

Not sure what the plan is for Fri night but Saturday night we'll be heading out to the Italian restaurant (check the thread that Papillion created). We then head back to the hotel and some of us go to the pub that's attached.

Yes choose the showfield option and then scroll down to MercuryMarauder.net as the official club name. You can register either Stock/NA Marauder or Modified (having at least 3 or more major modifications). Once you are registered you are automatically entered into the showfield contest. This allows any other registrant to walk around to all the different car clubs and chose nominations. We can also nominate internally (MercuryMarauder.net only) for our selections. There are lots of awards and last year Paul (Blackened300a) received a Top 50 award.

Blackened300a/Paul and I will get ther Friday early afternoon just to make sure our tent is set up and everything is good to go for Saturday's show.

There are no "official" plans for Friday night. Some members makes plans amongst themselves & get together for dinner but otherwise nothing "planned".

Saturday DAY is the big show! We all corral on Marauder Mountain early in the morning. We set up our chairs, Paul and I set up the tables with the t-shirts and trophies for our in-voting awards. We set up the grills for our BBQ lunch. A lot of members bring a little something for the cook out but it's not mandatory or anything. After we gorge ourselves with food, we plop down for the award ceremony which is always fun.

Saturday NIGHT, like Ryan said, we will be having our 3rd annual Italian Family Dinner. I spoke to Carlo the owner of the joint a couple of days ago. He remembered us as "the loud cars" and was happy to accomodate our group again. Here's the link about it. Sunday morning everyone gathers on the Mountain again to check out who won what through the Carlisle judging. As mentioned, Paul won the Nifty Fifthy award last year and Sherman/Shermanator won a Celebrity Choice award. It was great to have the group represent in such a way. Out of THOUSANDS of cars, these 2 were picked for very special awards so we represented in a BIG way. Anywho, we usually hang our for a while on Sunday morning/early afternoon and then people start to hit the road for home.

Its a fun event with lots to see and do.

I also forgot to mention that (this being your first time), there is more to the meet up with the Marauders at the top of the hill. Carlisle showfield is HUGE! there are tons of other car clubs to look at and admire. There is a huge swap meet at the other end so you can spend hours walking up and down rows looking at all the nostalgic parts and haggling with the dealers. There is a grandstand so you can grab a bite and watch some of the events. I don't know what's scheduled. You can check out the Carlisle even page for more info.

Last year there was a burnout contest which was cool. There is a place for folks to buy/sell cars both inside the gates. Outside the gates, folks have cars lined up all over for sale. It's really fun just walking around outside and looking at the cars there.

Inside the pavilion they have the showroom cars.

So of course we want you to hang out with the Marauder folks on the hill, but just wanted to let you know there is definitely a lot to do.

Since I have to work until 4:00 PM that Friday, I'll not be arriving in Carlisle until around 10:00 PM. My hotel is on Hanover Street, in Carlisle, so the drive the next day is five minutes.

I promise, this year I will not be rushed to the hospital the day before for emergency surgery. I still have a promise to keep from last year. I'll bring the cups, the ice, and the Sangria. The Saturday BBQ should be a fun event.

No Carlisle event would be complete without the burnout contest. Bragging rights are up for grabs once again at the Carlisle Ford Nationals. Join us as we crown the “Carlisle King (or Queen) of the Hill.” Pre-registration is required at Guest Services. A show sticker (i.e. registered for vending or show vehicle), driver’s license and proof of insurance are required. The contest is limited to 10 vehicles with each getting 3 minutes to burnout. Looks like we are in the BLUE SHOWFIELD this year rather than in the YELLOW. This might mean that we'll be near the Car Corral like in 2010. Hopefully, we won't be on the big slant in the back.

Doesn't look like we are on "Marauder Mountain" unless the area colors have been shifted around.

The 2013 Directory hasn't been posted yet. However, it really hasn't changed in past couple years. Yellow is on top the hill. Blue Showfield is normally down the hill and contains the area near the Car Corral where we were in 2010.

Ken@Carlisle chimed in on Post #77. If he didn't read the other 6 pages before his post, he may not have gotten the idea that most of us are happy on the hill (Marauder Mountain) as long as they put a porta-John or 3 up there just to cut down the trips up and down.

If we are near the Car Corral like in 2010, that will be a good area as well. We had lots of walking traffic past that spot and it was relatively convenient to the car corral displays, building T & Y displays, grandstands, vendors and food court. Could be tight for space depending on exactly where they fit us. More room to "flex" on the hill.

My sticker came. I'll be there on Saturday... look for my 2 boys and a bunch of McPancakes to fall out of the car when we arrive! I think it's great to see so many Marauders together. If I could ever swing staying for longer than the day I'd hang out with you guys, but we usually leave Pittsburgh at 6:00, park around 9:30 and then we're westbound around 3:00 to make home for dinner.

The swap meet and car corral, even when I'm not buying, is my favorite part!

Maybe next year I'll step up to the hotel league!

Not a problem unless the area has a low spot that collects water when it rains. Not much chance of that on the hill. More of an issue down on the flats.

BTW -- doesn't look like there will be porta-potties up on the hill. I don't see any icons near our area.

Sounds great !!! Stickers are on the windshields of both cars and the Carlisle letter is over the visor so I don't forget it. REMEMBER to bring that registration letter since you will need it to check in and get your Goodie bag(s) and voting ballots.

Both cars are prepped, engine bays cleaned. Worked all day yesterday and was sweating at 7:00 AM this morning working on the cars. One was bad enough .... two is a pain. Just light duty the rest of the week. Lets hope and pray for good, clear weather for the weekend. :D

For any new comers or those who are curious....

We do our own in-voting for this event with nicer awards then Carlisle themselves hand out. Votes are people's choice so a ballot will be handed out and you can walk around and cast your votes for the car's of your choice in the following categories...
Best in show Supercharged.... This class has a 1st, 2nd and 3rd
Best in show naturally aspirated.... This also has three classes
Best engine supercharged.... Single award
Best engine NA..... Single award
Best Display.... Meaning how your car is displayed with placards, show boards or just how your car will stand out from the crowd. (Creativity helps!)...Single award

New for this year....

Best paint.... Single award
Best all stock... If you have a K&N filter you don't qualify! This is bone stock!! (Tune, gears, trans work will be acceptable if you don't tell us!) ....Single award
Furthest distance... You will have a placard handed to you to be filled out and placed on your car for the voting. This will include your location and make you eligible.
UPOA Administrator choice award.... Ryan and I will select the person who's car stands out and appeals to us regardless of mods, mileage and mods...Single award

One car per class meaning if a supercharged car is mint with great paint from Texas, he will only be eligible to win one award. I like to spread the awards around so its not only one guy winning everything. That's my only rule in the voting so take your time, look at all the cars, and vote accordingly.
Also marauders and all other panthers are included in all classes because this is a MM.net/ UPOA event as well so don't worry about voting for that Crown Victoria or Grand Marquis that stands apart from the crowd. This is about all of us as panther enthusiasts.

There will be a ballot box for the votes to be dropped into and then counted. The placards you will be handed to display on your car will include your name, MM.net/UPOA screen name, location, NA or SC, and basic car info. Please include that on the ballot of the person you are voting for so nobody loses a vote. Any ties in a class will be settled by Ryan and I. We will look at both cars and make a judgement call. I been doing this for 5yrs now and keeping it fair has always been my theme with the in-voting.

Feel free to ask any questions. Nothing has changed for the planning of the event except working on making it bigger and better then the last year.

We will also arrange parking for the marauders and other panthers so you won't have to worry about parking next to a old police car. There will be a separate line for the marauders and non-marauders. Ill be on hand very early to get it all situated.
Some of the crown Vic's that are attending will rival some of the cleanest marauders so it will be some strong competition this year.
