I have a good customer who's son is in DC in the service and needs an honest mechanic...any recommendations? Please let me know, the dealership wants to put a $5000 trans in an 01 Honda Accord with 200,000 miles on it!!!!:eek:

I'm sure there will be a lot of comments from the CAM members. You might do well posting your question in the CAM thread

That being said, are we talking District of Columbia specific? or can he venture out into the suburbs? There are lot of reputable shops in the Northern virginia area. I have used Gainseville Garage for some of my work and have been pleased with their service.

but Gainesville is also 35-40 miles outside of DC...

YIKES!

I know of a very good private shop that works on Hondas, but it is all the way up in the Balltimore area. (Catonsville, Md.)

BTW: As I'm sure you know....you can buy a lot of decent, used vehicles with well under 200K miles for $5,000.

An old high school buddy of mine owns Exline Auto in Newington, Va. About 20 mins south on 95 from DC.

Not in DC but Calvin Transmissions in Sykesville, MD is my choice for trans repair/rebuilds.
