I live in Massachusetts. I noticed that people are deleting their cats and using a combinaton of exhaust delete resonator tips and either flowmaster or magnaflow mufflers. I noticed that it sounds great. I like that deep growel sound like a GTO. I cant get rid of my cats because its illegal in Massachusetts and the car won't pass inspection without out them. What do the people do from areas similar to mine to get that sound or is there some way around it that I dont know about? Can you get the same sound without deleting the cats? What mufflers do people recomend, for example, is there a certain series? Can people put sound bites up of what they have. What I have on my marauder now, are delete resonator tips from cone. There is a small difference that I like but I want more bass.Thank you in advance.

I have Magnaflows on mine with all 4 stupid cats. It sounds okay when I get on it, but I too wish the sound was a little deeper.

Dude, you can have two if your cats removed, just not all four.

Have you thought about deleting the rare cats?

California has a visual inspection that I would fail.

I am trying to work with CARB to get an exemption ... But that is like talking to a wall!

You do know that the Ford cats are ceramic honeycombs that are VERY fragile (comparatively).
IF someone were to unbolt the flanges @ the outlet of the rear cats and then were to "break-up" the ceramic inside the converter and clean it all out so there were no little pieces left inside, they could bolt the mid pipe flanges back on and have an empty chamber where the rear cat used to reside!

I have done this before on earlier Fords w/no bad side effects for performance or emmissions. Have not tried it yet on the Marauder but considering it in the near future!

I did this recently to a 96 marquis. Also if your looking for a rumbly sound then don't go with magnaflows. Magnaflows are like a marauder tone but louder. It's very melo sound. That's what I have on my 05 box with rear cats delete.

Im moving back to mass in April when I get discharged, I was hoping I would be alright with just the rear cats deleted and aero turbine muffs. Am I wrong?

You will hear some interesting sounds as the exhaust "bangs" around inside the empty cats.

The honey comb material breaks up very easy, Remember to take out the wire mesh inside also.

You are correct.

Deleting the rear cats has no effect on emissions. Most tuners turn off the rear O2 sensors in their tune. I've had my rear cats deleted for years and it passes the N.C. state inspection everytime. I would bet anyone money that the person doing a visual inspection will not know that the MM came with 4 cats. They expect to see two and that is what they will see.

Frankly, the guys at the inspection station do more looking & questioning than inspecting.

Just make sure that when you go in for inspection, that your car is extreamly clean. People will comment and question on a beautiful marauder.
