Bosch makes alot of aftermarket. I'd recommend Ford / Motorcraft OS sensors.

Go with Ford/Motorcraft. Make sure you order the right ones, UPSTREAM are the ones located closest to the exhaust manifolds/engine, DOWNSTREAM are closest to the mufflers.
When I bought new one Motocraft ones, I got them from RockAuto.com.

Yes always feel oem is the way to go. I see Rock auto has them & there is a ten dolar dif between motorcraft & bosch. Why do you recomend the motorcraft over bosch ?

I only went with Motorcraft as my stock ones lasted a long time, I did not need to change them but only did because of 150k + miles on them and I was pretty sure they were starting to get lazy/slow reading.

The Motorcraft ones are made to the exact mfg. specs. Most Bosch are "generic".

If its an OBD11 or newer car OEM all the way or you will be disappointed in them. Remember, the OEM's,by federal law, have to warranty emissions systems for 100,000 miles. They use good parts, that were designed to last.

FYI....
All the sites I looked at offered 2 different O2 sensors.
http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/CatalogResults.aspx?y=2004&m=Mercury&mo=Marauder#Search
Before 11//26/2004 uses a sensor with a green connector (9F427 or DY-850)
After 11/29/2004 uses sensor (9G444 or XR3F-BA)

Which side is bank 1 vs bank 2? Isn't the left side as you face the engine bank 1?

I believe bank 1 is the same bank as the #1 cylinder.
Yes, bank one is the bank with cylinder #1 which would be the passenger side in the case of our 4.6. Or Right bank if you go the way it's supposed to.

My wife works at Bosch in the O2 sensor Dept. Bosch makes the O2 sensors for ford, and most aftermarket brands, if they fail the first test they are sent back through the process, and re-tested, then sold to the after market, only the ones that pass first time are sold under Bosch, therefore I'd buy Bosch.
Intresting, Rock Auto and Advance list NTK as OEM.
Not arguing, just what I've seen.
Although Advance just says OE type, but Rock says OE type, and OE MFG. ???
I'm looking to replace mine O2's as well.

OEM *is* NTK. Purchase NTK. Bosch (which I bought once for P71) were a MISTAKE - they are bigger than OEM/NTK. I forget which cat it was but the Bosch was very tight fit and end was rubbing. You want the smaller OEM/NTK units.
