I have been told 2004 Marauders torque converter has a stall speed of 2700.
The stock converter multiplies are 2:5:1
a PI converter has multplies of 1:9:1
My question is would I need a re tune if I went with after market PI converter ?
I was told that the factory stall was 1,900
I'm about to get a 2,400 stall converter.
This has always been a very confusing topic for me.

i to have heard oe converters are 1900 and 04s are higher, but you dont have to retune unless your also doing gears.

I have been running a tune for 4:10 gears. So if I get a converter PI Stallin of say 2400 stall I would not need a re tune ?

I would go with Circle D honestly. I've had the stallion and it's been great but for just a little more the Circle D is the better choice.

I believe in another thread you said DR did you tune, have you talked to him?

I installed my stock convertor from my 300a and it was stalled at 2400 rpm from the factory. This was checked from a stop than accl. wot and watching my digital tack and saw 2400 most of the time. This is with 285 RWHP and 306 RWTQ. 4.6l NA. engine. HP and TQ will change the point at which the convertor stalls. I have a 3200 stall PI installed over the last month and same test i see 3200 on my tack.

Don't fear the stall!
LIL Sis is an HPP with the same size convertor as PI and Marauder 11 1/4" My builder claimed he was able to restall from stock 1800 to 2800 reworked.
All I know is, LIl Sis will shread the rear tires from a dig.

If you have 500whp or less a single disc will be fine, even when locked at wot.
Bigger power a multi disc would be reccomended. Just for reliability purposes.
I run an FTI 3800 stall. It flashes at 3400 and feels great when cruising.
Im going for 4200 when the tranny goes.:)

I have a PI 9.5" triple disc unit. You can feel the lockup!
I've had a converter in my old P71 from Circle D. I would also recommend them. They offer upgrades like needle bearings, high carbon clutches etc. I'd say they are better than the PI units. You can also get one from Circle D with a drain plug!
Doom: as you make more power the stall speed will go higher, so your factory converter that might be around 1900 with 302hp at 400+ hp you probably are closer to 2100 at WOT (to add to the confusion!) :)
Anyone that gets an aftermarket smaller converter (or 4.10's) needs a transmission cooler. I'd recommend the ones made by LONG. Higher stall converters make the trans fluid HOTTER. This can kill your transmission, or shorten it's life
