hey all, just got my second marauder two weeks ago and am having a blast getting it up to snuff. Today was driving home from a doc visit and at about 40 mph I thought the trans just disengaged (slipped) gave it a little throttle and it re engaged went from third to fourth and lock up just fine. Stopped at a red light and it went right through the gears just fine and lock up was fine. No dash lights, or any other problems, gave it a little hell on my street and it seemed to be fine. My baby has 145k on it and the fluid is up on the stick and looks/smells good. Any info will help. Thank's, Tony

Just because ATF "looks" good doesn't mean it IS good. If it's been in too long the additive pack can be depleted causing any number of issues. Unless you know it's been changed in the last 30,000 miles, I would go ahead and do it now.

yeah, your right. That is on my to get done list, I did the oil/filter/diff. changes, and the transmission is next. My marauder seems to have been well kept but still wanting to get it on a routine. Any body else?

I bought my DD in July with 120,000 miles. The ATF looked and smelled OK, but it had a weird quick little shudder when going into T/C lockup...like the precursor to the infamous TCC shudder. I dropped the pan, changed the filter, install a drain plug, then gave it a couple more drain & fills over the following month and the anomaly has not returned.

How experienced are you with Marauders? Does the car have a tune? If it doesnt the trans tends to hunt around for gears with our cars and feels awkward some times.

If you dont have a tune I suggest getting one from one of our vendors. One of the single greatest mods you will do. I would also change the trans fluid as everyone suggested.

Make sure the shifter cable/linkage is tight and adjusted right. If it is not in drive all the way - the transmission can drop out of O/D at highway speed - it will shift back and forth unless you turn the O/D off. If it happens again try shifting into neutral and back into drive (foot off gas!). and see if it clears up. If it does you need to look at the linkage/cable.

well I checked the linkage and all is good. As far as experience with the marauder, I have had two along with a kb panther and several other cv's. I don't believe it has a tune because the trans shifts normal (line press.) but I do need to change the rear tires because the previous owner put the same size all around it so the tc is not functioning right. I did noticed when I changed axle grease that the spiders had a little play and am wondering if the pin may need changed in the rear. Considering the miles and how much more fun it would be with 410' I will probably do a rebuild/gear soonly. Just need to spend my money wisely due to limited amounts of it.lol.

When you do the fluid & filter as RF Overload suggested I would also recomend changing the pressure regulator valve & pressure control sylonoid. They are recomended to be changed out at 60,000 miles. Give Allen a call at www.Dirtydogperformance.com (http://www.Dirtydogperformance.com) I found him very informative.
