Hi all -

One of the mods that I hope to do in 2013 is improving the engine bay on my SB.

I'm set on having my cam covers powdercoated with Ford Racing wrinkle blue.

I have the Ford Racing, polished, coil covers to compliment (Thanks, CWright!).

But, I can't decide on what to powdercoat my upper/lower intake.

Can you post up pics of your engine bay so that i can see the combinations?

Thanks,

Mark

The best looking combo I have seen is gunmetal engine compartment on the SB.

Is gunmetal the color that has the black undercoat/background and the silver topcoat - Looks like Mercury (the element) and still liquid?

All right, all you guys with chrome valve covers. What did you have done to them? Real 3 dip Chromate bath??? The two stage powder coat chrome (chrome pc then a clear since the chrome oxidizes over time) and even the single stage Eastwood Chrome look halfway between silver and chrome. The powdercoats in chrome are not impressing me at all. I've done it, had two different shops do it, tried the single stage Eastwood recently and it all looks exactly the same!!! Detailed info please! :)

I been on the same mission you have been. I purchased and tried about 5 different "chrome" powder coats. My cam covers are out of the ford catalog and are called powder coated chrome appearance. I have searched high and low for this powder and I have come to the conclusion that the covers are polished with a powder clear coat over it. It's the only thing I can think of. I recently used Eastwoods two stage ultra chrome powder on my short runner intake and its probably the closest you can get to a chrome look in a powder. I used this same powder on my crossover tube and it looked more silver the chrome.
Here's the intake.

Now here's that same powder on a crossover tube.

Different metals make it come out looking brighter then others but still nothing compared to a polished piece or actual dipped chrome.

I hate black, but must admit this is one better than expected quality job for a $10 rattle can of wrinkle. Blower was re sprayed in high heat. Both look no different from when I did it mid summer.

I was tempted to try it but I just do not have room for a dedicated oven to use or a open area to start spraying powder around. Dropping it off and picking up completed saves a ton of cleaning.

Yep,
Canton Accusump Oil Accumulator.
Holds 1 extra quart of oil under full pressure.
Crank the engine, flick the accusump switch, and the engine, bearings & timing chain tensioners have instant 75 psi oil pressure just as she fires up to that high rev light off characteristic of Marauders.
Engine is quiet as a mouse, no clatter or rattling.....:2thumbs:
