ok I just bought a 03 blk MM but on my vin break down it has M75 (Grand Mar) instead of the M79 (Mer Marauder)? Is this just cause its #2700 and its early build??

Sorry if its a nubbie question or covered before..

Thanks for any help

Marauders didn't get their own vin designation until the 2004 model year. Somebody will correct me if I'm wrong but I believe all 03's are M75 and 04's are M79.

You are absolutely ^^^^^ correct.

2003 MMs = M75V (the V code identifies the 4.6L DOHC engine which MGM did not have)
2004 MMs = M79V

Allot of outsiders still think a Marauder is a V code Grand Marquis, but the owners at this site know better. With all of the differences the Marauder has over the Grand Marquis, they should have change the code in 2003 and more would have been sold.

I was at the Lincoln-Mercury dealer in Feb '03. The salesman showed me a GS Grand Marquis, then a LS, and then a black Marauder. We went to the back lot where a Blue Marauder had just arrived. The GS was 18K, the LS was 24K, and the MM was 36K. I said the difference in price between the GS and the LS I can see in the leather seats, the AC controls, premium sound, and features. But why is the Marauder twice the price as the GS?
“well The Marauder has a special engine and front bumper”.
