Guys.... As many of you know, Paul Casey has been battling cancer over the past 9 mos - 1yr.... Just saw a status post from Georgiann his wife indicating that his fight is coming to an end......
I have known Paul since the spring of 2006, and can honestly say, he is one of the coolest and sincere people I have met on this board. He worked hard, served his community, is a great husband and father, loved his country and contributed a boatload in this community of ours, just by Paul being Paul...... Its an honor to know you Paul. To share time with you and Georgi.... Godspeed old friend.... Hope to see you in the next....
Please keep Paul and Georgi in your thoughts. :flag:

Yes, I think it was in 2010 when he and GeorgeAnn dropped in on us enroute back to RI from another of his long road trips. They hung out on the near the "Car Corral" that year then went over to Embers for dinner.
Very nice people. Was saddened to hear of Paul's passing last night. R.I.P. Paul. His "Burnouts Across America" tour was classic back in the early days of MM.net. He left black marks across most every state in the lower 48.

Paul,
This is sad news. Had the good fortune to spend more than one afternoon with you over the years, and depending on the
locale; your family as well. You always had a smile and a squint in your eye like you'd just been misbehaving. You were
empathetic in the non-Marauder realm to me and as I witness here. The earth is definitely lighter with the lifting
of your soul.
RIP

The Passing of Paul is difficult to realize---he was always such a part of the MM community--traveling in just about every state and meeting with just about all of us at one time or another---for me it was at the SSHS in Alt. each year since I started going in '04--but the first time was at Team Ford 's dyno days---in '03 and '04 where he seem to always shows up there and then the SSHS 's--the last time I took a pic of his MM with about 200K + mileage ---got to find it somewhere--
He was such a friendly man who just seem to make you feel you knew him for years----not many folks can make you feel that way ...........
He will truly be missed and prayers are sent for the family...
I strongly vote for the comment below-----------and I think it is the true fitting memorial for such an event ....see below---

I had no idea that Paul was so ill.
I met Paul and GeorgAnn at Carlisle that year.
Paul had bought my TEKSID block and asked that I bring it up to Carlisle because they were going to stop in on the Marauder tent.
Paul and his wife were fantastic people and I offered Paul a test drive in my Marauder back to his Marauder which was parked off the fairgrounds.
Unfortunately as we were leaving, the skies opened up and it poured so hard that Paul couldn't get over 10 mph in my car!

I too am a car guy and I want you to know that I will see to it that his Marauder continues to be well maintained. I have myself turned a few wrenches on that car with him and those are some of my greatest memories. I can tell you not only was he a true car guy and a great friend, he was an awesome father and husband as well. But I assure you his legacy will live on and when it comes time, that teksid block in his workshop will be built for some big NA power just like he wanted it.

Well whether the car stays with Georgann or myself, I am going to make sure two things happen. The car will be cleaned and cared for as if he was here, and I will make sure it gets out of the 14s and in the 100+mph trap. I am pretty sure his best run in the 1/4 was 14.01@99.7 w/ 2.01 60ft. But he did get in to the 8.7s in the 1/8 so I think that car will blast by 14.0 now.

I witnessed the 1/8 of a mile runs (from behind) all night long that night. He mopped the floor with all of us that night. The only race I saw him lose that night was when he drove my car. It was also the only race I won (I drove his car that time). Another first that night, He almost got ejected from the track for an excessive burnout. At A DRAG STRIP! Funny stuff. Our friendship was to short. Alabama send "Your Mama and Them" our deepest sympathies, and we are greatly saddened by his passing.

I just wanted to take a moment out to thank you all for your nice words and support. My father would tell me stories all the time about you guys and racing down south.
Paulie, I never had the honor to have met your father, just followed his posts on here. I know what you're going through and I hope that the memories of him help you and your family through this tough time.

Paul Thomas Casey Jr. (1957 - 2013)
Obituary
Paul Thomas Casey Jr., 55, of 71 Winnapaug Road, died Friday evening at home while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Norwich, Conn., on Dec. 23, 1957, son of Julia V. (Rajtar) Casey and the late Paul T. Casey Sr.
On June 26, 1993, he married his beloved wife Georgann P. Schneider. Mrs. Casey survives her husband of 19 years.
Paul attended school in Norwich, Conn., and graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1975. He went on to attend the former Thames Valley State Technical College. He was involved in Scouting for many years with Troop 79 in Norwich where he attained the rank of Eagle Scout.
Paul began his career in non-destructive testing at the United Nuclear Corporation in Uncasville, Conn., and traveled extensively throughout the years in his field. He was most recently employed as a Level II NDE Inspector for the Tennessee Valley Authority and was widely respected in his field.
Paul was an avid car aficionado and a member of MercuryMarauders.net. He drove his 2003 Mercury Marauder at racetracks down south and enjoyed taking his family and friends on his famous burnout runs, including taking his wife on the "burnouts across America" tour in 2004.
Known affectionately as "The Admiral" among his friends and co-workers, he also enjoyed clamming and quahogging on Winnapaug Pond and fishing the waters off the shore near his home in Misquamicut.
Paul joined the East Great Plain Volunteer Fire Company at the age of 16 and was still a sustaining member of the department at the time of his death. He continued his dedicated service to his community throughout his life and has been an active member of the Misquamicut Fire Department, up until the time of his death, recently receiving a Dedication to Service'Award. The firehouse was like a second home to him and he leaves behind many close friends and associates in the fire service from throughout the region.
Paul was a dedicated and loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle and grandfather. His favorite times were those when he was surrounded by his loving family.
In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by his mother, Julia V. Casey, of Norwich, Conn.; four sons, Micah Strode, of Pascoag; Paul T. Casey III, of Shrewsbury, Mass.; Kenneth B. Godberson, of Centereach, N.Y.; and Kevin Godberson, of Medford, N.Y.; and two daughters, Kari-ann Godberson, of Worcester, Mass.; and Rachel Stockwell, of Providence. Paul also leaves behind three brothers, Thomas P. Casey Sr., of Preston, Conn.; Daniel H. Casey, of Franklin, Conn.; and Peter F. Casey Sr., of Winterhaven, Fla.; and five grandchildren, Cyrus Sikes, Peyton P. Strode, Kenneth Godberson III, Mathew Godberson and Olivia Godberson. Paul also had several nieces and nephews who loved and respected him very much.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday Feb. 2, 2013, at 10 a.m. directly at Christ Episcopal Church, 7 Elm St., Westerly. Burial will follow in River Bend Cemetery in Westerly. Calling hours will be on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, from 5-8 pm at Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Crematory, 64 Friendship St., Westerly. For online condolences, please go to www.rushlowiacoifuneralhome.co m.
Please, in lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the American Cancer Society , 931 Jefferson Blvd., Warwick, RI 02886 in Paul's name to be used for Squamous Cell lung cancer research.

What a day for you today, Paul.
From my experience there were firetrucks, lots of people attending, a loooooong procession to your beautiful
spot overlooking the Pawcatuck. Paulie C. and the rest of of your tribe are such a great family unit; and Georgann is so strong.
At River Bend, there was ceremony from your FD and small invocations by our favorite Navy Chaplain that made
my chest swell from the solemn respect. There was also fireworks, burnouts, blaring horns
and hoots from all who braved the chill.
There were Marauder-ers from around these woods and down south. There was an obligatory Marauder
trip u-turn (by me...as I plugged in Warwick as my coordinates....27 mile u-turn so no ritual was left out).
But you probably know all this already, because you shot us a rainbow in the sky for all to see.
RIP - PTC

Jonathan

Paul's send-off was nothing less than GRAND! Tom, Paul's brother, gave a stirring and funny Eulogy, including the fact that Paul's Marauder, though ten years old, went through 18 sets of tires! Georgie's burnout was very fitting. She told me at the reception, that the burnout was the first one she ever did in Paul's car! Nicely done!! Navchap read prayers at the church and at the Cemetary. Todd Fisher drove from DC to attend. He and Paul were very close. One of the most touching moments was at the end the the committal service - each firefighter came up to the casket, saluted, removed their white gloves and laid them on the casket. Couldn't help but choke up. It was nice to see Jonathan and Marcela!

Paul and I had a long phone conversation after his heart attack (which happened when he was washing his car for an Atlanta event). He had heard about my heart attack and we swapped heart patient war stories (how many stents you got? what meds you takin? how what you can eat and can't eat sucks, etc.) Last time I saw him was in Steele, AL at the track there. Paul was telling me his transmission was about shot and was nervous about getting back to Huntsville if it cratered. Wasn't long after that I lined up for a run and there was Paul staging in the lane next to me. I'm gonna miss seeing him.

I wish there was a "like" button on here because Georgann CRUSHED that burnout all day long!
She leaped out of the car once she turned around, arms over her head and cheering. I have a feeling Paul
always knew who was sitting next to him and worried about even more tire destruction.
It was great to finally meed Todd and to see you as well, Mary.
What a sendoff. Wish I could've stayed for more.
