This community has lost several members. We post up threads in their honor and share our memories of the departed members. We dont necessarily forget these people, but after a short time, the thread gets lost in the history of the site.

I respectfully suggest these "final" threads of memories have a special place and not be lost to cyber space.

Not sure that I fully understand the intent here ^^^^^ Charlie. Does this prevent a family member, relative or friend close to the situation from making the announcement? Seems it is more timely and relevant to get the info from the source rather than delay of a mod thread. JMHO. The thread can be moved to the "Memorial Section" by the mods later if necessary.

As to "heavily modded", I am not so sure about that either. Unless something is totally inappropriate or highly insensitive, comments should stand as posted to reflect the individuals thoughts and condolences at the time.

Thank you , Thank you Charlie-- I cannot believe we all have been thinking these thoughts and couldn't see our noses to say it --we all are so DUH!

Once again--Thanks for clearing our thoughts for such a great idea/thought for us all to appreciate --as well as families involved. After all, we all are memories of each other whom we have shared so many together.

Maybe something along the lines of a stickied thread in the Community Discussion subforum, titled similarly to this thread, wherein each post is for one member, containing their name, picture, and their respective memorial thread as a link?

As if it isn't clear by this post, I very much second this proposal of a memorial compilation. If there are no other good things one could say about this community, that one thing would be that when you are in the family, you are IN the family, and you may as well be blood-related. I've never encountered another online car club similar in this way, and this proposed thread would only further show that bond in this club.

Details can be hammered out later. Anyone can post in the forums, but yes, once the info is deemed legit, then the mods move the threads as necessary.

Heavily modded is heavily worded. But you caught my gist. We tend to get off topic here and there. If the remarks made do not reflect the member appropriately, then...:banned: the remark.

It's a great idea, but there are many of us that don't have a significant other capable of informing even our close friends when that time comes.

I'm turning 70 next Thursday (1/31). Time to start thinking about the inevitable.

Folks that die in their 60's, most people say "he died so young". Folks that die in their 70's, "he led a good life". That one digit makes a big difference. Just a fact of life.

I gave my wife an email address list of those that I keep in touch with on a regular basis to let them know..............

None of the chatboxes that I frequent are on that list.

Got any other details on tjg442? I can't find anything on it.

I believe I met Jim at MVIII/WDC in Detroit, MI when he brought the clone. Was he also Barb's/BAJA husband?? I can't find anything in the archives on that one either. I think Jim came to Carlisle in 2008 or 2009 with Barb in the Blue MM.

Jim was one of the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet, a friend to several of us here; as stated, Jim cloned a Marquis into a Marauder, and brought back BAJA's DBP from just about nothing (it was a theft total IIRC). In addition, he owned a DTR until his death. You may think that he was not part of this community, but if you guys remember Robhollar (the guy who was selling off a whole TON of Marauder parts last year), that is (I think) his son in law. Many of the parts Jim scrounged and saved over the years are now living in on other folks' cars (hell, I've got a FL820S on my Marauder now that I bought from that parts hoard!) BTW, the DTR Marauder is still in his driveway, a little worse for wear as I do not believe it has been driven at all (odometer reading somewhere around 27000 miles). I'm three months away from 71.

Does it bother me? Of course. I'd much rather be 50, 40, 30 than 71.

But, I still work on my Galaxie, still have drinks with buddies from grammar school, and still listen to old music.

You can't stop THE clock; just enjoy the time you have.

When I was a little kid, I used to tease my dad about the music (the 40's) he listened to.

One day he said, "someday you'll be listening to old memories/music".

Dad was correct.

I listen to the 50's music (tough to really link the music with my life)

60's; the greatest decade of my life; cars, girls, drive in movies, met my wife of 46 years

70's; yeah, I remember, the 70's, but it was "work, work, work, advancement, etc".

80's; kind of a "did it, done it", ain't getting any better

90's; hanging on waiting for retirement

00's; I'm one of my department's older guys; waiting for the axe to fall; 2007; axe fell, thank you, big corporation

201X; retirement, fantastic

2020: who knows??

I just hope one of my daughters will keep my Galaxie, bring it to old car shows, and tell folks about their dad buying the car in 1969 and all the work he did on the car.

The 2nd Anniversary of Rex's / SC Cheesehead's passing a couple days ago got me thinking about the members here that we have lost over the years. May all our departed brothers rest in peace. You may be gone but are not forgotten by your friends here at the MM.Net. Miss you Rex, Paul, Alex, Richard, Peter, Freda, Jim, Paula, David, Skotty, Steve, Bill and all of our too soon departed.

Hear hear Charlie! Thanks for reminding us to remember those friends and club-mates (whom we would never, ever, ever would have met... except for our common love of Marauders) who have gone before...RIP to them all.

Mashpee, MA
Obituary

H.A. “Mac” McCarthy, 67, of East Falmouth, formerly of Chicago, passed away peacefully at home on June 17, 2020. He was the beloved son of the late Robert H. McCarthy.

Mac served as a police officer for the City of Chicago and retired as a Sergeant in 2008 after 30 years of Service. He was one of the founding members and a side drummer for the Pipes and Drums of the Chicago Police Department. There was no greater privilege for Mac than to honor his fallen brothers and sisters in Blue and Red by performing or attending a funeral in uniform. He was also the first Inductee to the IACP/DuPont Kevlar Survivors Club after being gravely injured in the line of duty in 1983 and his vest saved his life. He was a highly decorated officer and received the police department’s highest honor of the Blue Star Award twice.

His passions were his fast cars, including Mercury Marauders and Shelby GTs. He owned many. Storytelling, screenwriting, road trips and Civil War history were his passions as well.

Mac will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Mac is survived by many friends which include his best friend Mary O’Keeffe, Bob Tischler, Rev. Keith Shuley CDR USN, Linda Abbe, Peter Winson, William and Angie Baron and family, Catherine O’Keeffe and Bob O’Keeffe and family.

A funeral Mass will be held at Christ the King Church, 3 Job’s Fishing Rd. Mashpee on Friday June 26, 2020 at 10:00am. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Falmouth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation www.cpdmemorial.org. For online guestbook and directions please visit www.ccgfuneralhome.com.

Dyno Results in Chicagoland
Waited two week with an appointment, but I finally went for my dyno test today, and went to the only place I could find in the Chicagoland area. There are more dynos around, yes. But, only two I could find, and both are really "out there" too, in location, availability, pricing and cooperation.

This place has a new 'Mustang" 4X4 dyno, and one really helpful tech running it. Can do a lot more stuff than I expected and when the software offered me a hundred choices for my tests, I didn't explore all of them and ordered the defaults. So, some of my tests will need to be done again in the spring, but work for me until then. I'll try to get these reports scanned and posted in the photo library in the next few days.

Where?
DynaTech, Inc.
7511 W. Cermak Road (inside mall, formerly Firestone)
North Riverside, Illinois

appointment necessary
125.00 per hour
open SEVEN days a week.
www.DynaTechAuto.com

Stats:
125.00 bought five honest pulls in one hour. Worth it in my book, and actually gave me more Sunday afternoon entertainment per hour than my last Bears game, and at half the price.

RWHP peaked at 319.9, 325.9 and 363.5. Wait now, I said "peaked".
My car on this dyno with the pro driving, revealed "peaks" in RWHP and TQ at the shift points. Good, solid shifts that chirped the tires on the dyno, and produced instantaneous spurts of power, why I don't know. The reports I ordered show these peaks in the graphs and in report totals, but they don't mean squat in my book. By looking at the graphs carefully, I estimate my overall net RWHP to center in the area of 240 RWHP.

Torque figures are likewise affected by my report selection, with peaks recorded at 1310.6, 1371.6 and 1336.6 ft-lbs, and in that order. Silly numbers I know, and I estimate my overall net TQ to center in the 420 ft-lbs range.

One pull for a certified 120 mph check for driveline vibrations or anomalies. None observed by the pro, end of story. RWHP and TQ, peaks aside, this MM nested in the 240HP-420TQ neighborhood in that report as well.

One pull for speedo certification, 40 MPH on the speedo is 38.40 mph. Good, nice to be a bit conservative here, and nice to see Reinhart's chip doing it's thing, for sure.

Last pull, 0 to 60 time. Standing start to 60 MPH is 6.03. Works for me.

I'm disappointed that I didn't better understand my choices in the software, there's a hundred ways to run this and I could have learned more had I been better prepared. Nonetheless, this is a good place to start, get me some numbers on how my Reinhart mods have improved stuff. Any of you who are really concerned with performance, get your MM to a dyno.

My prediction is that by spring, I'll be considering intake and exhaust improvements, and I'll probably take Reinhart's advice very strongly. The pipes under this car did not appear as large as I expected them to be, looked maybe half the size of what we see at the tip. Has to be improvement here, cats back. Likewise, the cold air supply needs to be looked at too, also front to back. More air in and more air out, should be worth the expense in RW gains. Pulleys for sure, maybe next in the mod line-up price-wise.

Oh, one more thing...My driveshaft is brushed sliver something, with polished ends, and color codes that match attached flanges. The "pro" acted as though that's the way it's supposed to be, matched balanced parts from the factory. No idea what it's made of, but magnets would not stick. Part number is 3W3Z-4602-AA, Marauder specific, not a GM shaft, or, so it says in the LM parts book.

Well, gotta start loading these images, so y'all can get busy telling me where I'm wrong.

Happy New Year, everyone, be safe.

I am also saddened to hear of Sgt. Mac passing. I followed him on this site as I am member 393 in Nov. of '02, and Mac was very helpful to us all back in those early days. He would be our 'Mule" so to speak and try just about anything and let us all know yeah that's a good idea or not by posting all the details for us to make our own decision. We all have a moment where he played an important part of our Marauder world. Mine was when after my major wreck in my MM after only 2k miles in '03, Mac help me with providing a personal letter to the "whomever it concerns" person, of what the true values of our car is was and will be when I needed some great input to reclaim its value from the company who hit me. He was very instrumental in so many things --Its no wonder he had so many friends and followers throughout his life time.

AT first when we all were at the beginning of this forum it was like some folks here were celebrities and he for sure was one ( mine). Everywhere he went he had followers shadowing him like crazy --cause when i met him finally in person in Alt. Ga meet back in '03 I had to get his autograft--I was like a little kid and finally met my celebrity I looked up to him . The funny part--we all were grown men!!!

The best part of having made friends and meeting individuals like him and so many others in our lives, the memories of those times will always be with us whenever we want to dial them up...

RIP great man--Sgt. Mac.

My two fondest memories:

Mac in the drivers seat of my car “WOW that clutch is STIFF”

Me looking over “Umm that would be the brake”

Five minutes later blasting past Dominic waiting for a light like a ballistic missile at 115 in Louisville Mexico.

Me in the drivers seat of his track Shelby putting it thru it’s paces in a parking lot full islands. “This handles NICE!”

Mac yawning “well if you’re gonna just *****foot it I’ll go ahead and take my nap now”

10 seconds later drifting that lil pony car so good Ken Block would have taken a bow. [emoji16]

Some rubbin and joking but always a great time. [emoji1303]

I am so sorry to hear of Mac's passing. He was a great light in the early years of the Mercury Marauder world, and that light never dimmed, but grew brighter as his interests expanded into Shelbys and road course racing. I know his later years were difficult, and I always hoped he found a way to feel and experience his passions. He brought knowledge, fun and more of that passion into the lives of those he knew, and he challenged me in many ways where both of us grew. He taught me and I taught him, and I'm grateful for the experiences. The memory of those experiences lives on with all of us here.

Mac drove me to Kenny Brown's facility in Indianapolis to pick up my MM in 2003. We took pictures of his KB-MM #01X and my KB MM #10 in front of the facility. The other picture is from registration at Marauderville #1 in Ennis, Texas. 5088850887

I am a better person for knowing Mac. All of the spirited debates were awesome and enlightening. We always managed to walk away friends. I too was there at Marauderville 1 and you just know when you meet someone for the first time that you will enjoy their company. Mac was one of those people. Whether it was at one of the infamous "Chicken Runs" where you got to ride in someone else's boosted Marauder, or shared your own, Mac was there. Then there was the mad dash from Chicago over to Cruztaker's party with 5 of us doing 100+ on the interstate with Mac leading the charge. "Stay tight and don't stand out" was the instruction. Haha!

Good times!

Super sad to hear of Mac's passing. the few times I chatted with him at various events he had a great dry sense of humor but was affable in a cantankerous sort of way. Our age difference is only about 30 years, but he was a fantastic conversationalist and I enjoyed every second with him learning about his Marauders and Shelbys. I'm at a loss for words other than he will be missed. He was one of the youngest souls I've even known. Even after purchasing FruitPunch, I always felt like a co-owner, when people ask what I've done to it, all I can say is "I just wash it", Dennis had it all done. RIP my friend..

I was thinking about Cruzer today, he just popped into my head. I'm very sad to hear of his loss. And there were too many names here that I remember.
I remember talking with SgtMac at MVille 1.
RIP

Tearfully adding SC Cheesehead (Rex Weinbender) to the list in Post #2 as of 14 November 2013. R.I.P. Blues Brother. :(

The 2021 Year has not been a good one for the Marauder Community. Jimbok1951, MarauderJim, and BigDogJim have been added to the list in Post #2. R.I.P. to three terrific Jim’s.

There's a post on Facebook by Mike Heckman's sister that he passed away. He'd been facing severe health issues lately. He was the driving force that started the Louisville meets. I really enjoyed my time getting to know him (as the photo from Louisville 2012 attests).

Perhaps we can recognize his memory at Carlisle. Thanks to this silly car, I have met some really great people through the Marauder.

Damn! Sorry to see this...without this guy, Louisville would have never been a thing. A MAJOR contributor to the MM community. RIP, Mike :bigcry:

This makes me sad. I was just thinking of him a week or so ago. I was thinking of calling him. There was a time him and I talked often. Then about 2018 or 19 he fell off the radar. So I let him be. Damn. Wish I had stepped up and called him. I was hoping to get in touch with him during this years Lville event. Gonna miss his humor and laughs. RIP Mike.
