Meh, I don't mind the cloning. If you really like Marauders and found some parts and they fit your (Grand Marq, Crown Vic, etc.) fine with me. Now if someone cloned one and tried to sell it as a Marauder, that's a different story.

Doubtful, seen all the recovered stolen MM's at insurance auctions? What's missing? Interiors, bumpers, wheels essentially all the Marauder specific parts.


Why throw 3-5k worth of parts on a $500 Vic, not a big deal if you have -0- in the parts. I also have only seen 1 Vic that was converted, done legit and cost was obviously high.

Sure, I put Pinto buckets in my Courier way back in '83. Not trying to be a Pinto, just better seats.
I only have a few Marauder parts in my Vic, not to imitate but to add to what Ford left out for us..ie. tachometer,driving light switch on headlights,gauge pod and decent swaybars. Most of my parts came from salvage yards or parts no longer needed.

The "rare parts" can be bought off of ebay all day every day. BTW I had a marauder, crown vic, and a grand marquis (which had a marauder bumper on it). Did anyone stop and think that there are no other kits out there for these vehicles. I don't think most people with a bumper claim they have a marauder, its an alternative to having a car that looks like a grampa mobile or a cop car. It is the only kit out there that doesnt look like crap and is somewhat easy to change over. BTW other communities are not as uptight about the so called "clones".

But a supercharger isn't specific to a Cobra, in this case it's just a supercharger that can be very easily fitted to an MM engine. Also, by that logic, you would have to say that all N/A MMs, all Lincoln Mark VIIIs, and Lincoln Aviators (I'm sure I'm forgetting others as well) are trying to imitate N/A Cobras. And that CVs are trying to imitate Mustang GTs. And that V6 Mustangs are trying to imitate V6 F150s. Or that an SBC-swapped 280Z is trying to be a Corvette.

Putting a false badge on a car is much different than swapping a motor or a power-adder, not even similar enough to compare.

Aside from a select few supercars, I don't think there's any vehicle that I wouldn't modify to my own liking. Youre talking to me all wrong, i like every part on my marauder, so i dont need the 'upgrade' like you feel you do with your cv. I dont care about the center console, but i do care about things specifically made for my car that are obselete from the factory such as the bumper. All in all, if you get a marauder bumper and put it on your vic, what am i going to do about it?.... nothing. But dont come into our house asking if its ok, the answer youll get wont be what you want to hear, which is exactly your problem, my views are different than yours. Do yourself a favor, you want a Marauder, buy one, they can be had for less than a late model Vic or Marquis. That said, I have to get back out to the garage and finish bolting all my spare Marauder parts on my Marquis.....:flamer:

Those are as desirable as Marauder parts to an average CV owner. I have Marauder seats in the Marquis because that's what I came across at a junkyard. My 96' Vic has LSE seats. All Marauder parts that I have I grabbed from a junkyard. They could've just as easily went under the crusher.

What no one will answer is, why put a Marauder bumper on a Vic?

I would actually like an answer to that, especially when OEM Ford bumpers are readily available

What possible reason is there for that?

It does not increase performance, falsely labels your car a Marauder and
takes that away from a Marauder owner

Same thing with the floor mats, generic floor mats are more common than aspirin, why do you need Marauder Mats?

I don't have a Marauder bumper cover and have no desire to get one so I don't know. The only thing that comes to mind is styling. Marauder has a single lip on the bottom while Vics have 2.

As for why I have Marauder floor mats...they were in a junk car, I got them for next to nothing so I put them in. Plus they are embroiled so they look cool. If someone has an identical set of floor mats with embroidering that says Grand Marquis I will gladly trade them. Same goes for gauge cluster. I only want it because it has a built in tach and looks factory.

I don't have a issue with any Marauder part on a CV or MGM, has been done on various models since their were cars... Years back it was Chevy Biscaynes with SS bucket seats & console or maybe a Fairlane with Torino GT wheels, or scoop(Hell they showed up on everything from Pintos to Dodge pickups) Never gonna stop no matter how much the purist pisses and moans about it... If it's a upgrade, I say go for it...

I actually planned to convert my old 00 CV into a MM clone but after adding up the cost of an engine swap , well complete powertrain swap, body, interior, suspension, then realized I might as well buy the whole freakin car and let it be turn key ready, numbers matching, real deal, & it was by far one of my best decisions. I even sold my 94 Caprice and bought a 96 imp-SS too. Atleast with the later you already have the correct LT1 powertrain if its a police pkg which is more than half the battle as compared to the MM.

This is fun and I don't want this thread closed or bad ju ju between cv mm and gmq folk....when I meet a cv enthusiast we normally bs for like an hour. It's the same fkn car. The mm has a lot of crap that cv or gmq never offered: brakes, suspension, engine, interior, tach, ect...but they are the same car and now are not too far off in value. If you have a crown vic and score a bumper at a salvage I say score! When my dealership was a jaguar franchise I had jaguar XKR supercharged owners coming in and buying hoods and bumpers of normal XKs and making their vehicles into sleepers or whatever. If you love the car you drive then good for you. Hell with my body shop resources I ought to put CV bumpers on my **** for a while, do an eaton swap, have a mean sleeper!

Parts for our cars are so hard to come by, that it does become frustrating to see them on a CV or GM when we cannot get them.

No one is hating on anyone. So, heaven forbid, your car gets hit, and your out of your ride for 2-3 months because they cannot find a Marauder specific part, just remember this post.

I say this because I have seen other members looking for parts and cannot find them, and thier cars wind up sitting in a shop forever or they get stuck with Marquis or VIc parts installed because none are available. Not that it's a big deal, but I'm thinking most of us would like to keep our cars in semi stock form with the correct body parts and what not.

If this were the case, why didn't you guys by Vics and make them Marauder clones? You bought Marauders because they are now at the same price point as the Vics and Marquis, which is what most of us have been saying.

If marauders were the holy grail and only mm owners were allowed to buy mm used parts thru some divine intervention I would get it, but that's not the case. 7 Years of my career was being the guy who ordered parts for my body shop, those parts at salvages are up for grabs for anyone. This guy might be borderline trolling our sight but the fact remains it's a free country and if a cv owner gets a deal on a mm bumper then he can take it and do what he wants. If I need a bumper I have a sick amount of resources and I'm honestly not worried about it

I'd rather Marauder owners buy up the parts, and hold them until real MM enthusiasts need them, than have the parts go on beat up old 150xxx mile plus Crown Vics or GMs..

Nobody wants a *****y old military truck for civilian use, so the Marauder will still have more of a collector's status..Where is the fansite for said POS rusted out military trucks other than hummers?

I'm not mad people buy the parts to put on their cars..its your money and they're up for grabs, but I would sure as hell be furious if I had to put CV or GM bumper covers on my MM because some asshat rear ends you and there are no parts because what was left all went to non MM cars.

Also, Marauder floor mats in a grand marquis or crown vic? Talk about lame posers..

The only one I don't understand is why CV people swap a marauder rear bumper cover, I sure as heck wouldnt waste money to have a Ford marauder bumper but even Serge pointed out that Summit sells a replica piece (albeit a steep price).

I work my ass off and turn no work down. I have only one hobby on a payed off car. I also do my own work and half the time fab my own parts. its not easy, nor fun most of the time, but I wouldn't ever have the money if I had to pay for work done. I wish I could sometimes! It's about priorities, not being rich. And also maybe driving beaters till my early thirties, waiting for the right time, money, and car.

I have no beefs here, just go easy on the labeling. Some of us are blue collar gear heads just like some of you.

The garage door opened, dirt flew in now there is a micro chip. Need new bumper.

I don't even think the DD drivers even care. Nobody should. Long as it protects you from the idiot driver that smashes into you then to hell with a bumper or parts. It might not be worth fixing afterwards anyway.

Prolly because now that there are maybe half the original marauders remaining the market for all these aftermarket things is tiny...not worth the effort on their part. Just guessing.

You must not go on many different car forums. I remember a thread once on LS1tech from a guy thinking about fitting 4th gen Trans Am lights onto his 4th gen Camaro. SHITSTORM. There have been multiple threads in a similar vein asking about swapping front ends between the two aforementioned cars, and they've all ended the same way.

I'm not hugely bothered by the whole lack of availability thing (although I still easily see the validity of the concern there), I just can't get over how foolish it is to put badges from another car, especially a higher model car, on your car when it clearly isn't what you are now advertising that it is.

I'd rather Marauder owners buy up the parts, and hold them until real MM enthusiasts need them, than have the parts go on beat up old 150xxx mile plus Crown Vics or GMs..

Nobody wants a *****y old military truck for civilian use, so the Marauder will still have more of a collector's status..Where is the fansite for said POS rusted out military trucks other than hummers?

I'm not mad people buy the parts to put on their cars..its your money and they're up for grabs, but I would sure as hell be furious if I had to put CV or GM bumper covers on my MM because some asshat rear ends you and there are no parts because what was left all went to non MM cars.

Also, Marauder floor mats in a grand marquis or crown vic? Talk about lame posers..
