I am just about to take my care into a local frame shop to rebuild the front and rear suspension. When I received the Metco Watts link arms, I noticed they do not include the center pivot on the axle housing. Apparently Metco intended to re-use this part. Or buy a new Watts link from Ford as well as the Metco links in order to get this piece (apparently not sold separately).

So my question is, how badly does this pivot typically wear? I am not opposed to buying a Ford Watts link just to get a new pivot, but I don't want to throw money away unnecessarily. Has anybody disassembled this part of the rear suspension and noticed wear, or a lack thereof?

My car has 100K miles on it.

I wouldn't worry about buying one until you take off the old Watts link and check for wear which I don't think you'll see.

Never heard of one wearing out.

That is the plan, just thought I'd ask if this part was a known issue. Sounds like it isn't.

I did not buy a new (reman) steering rack either. Everything else from the hubs to the inner tie rods and control arms is getting replaced.

I think Rockauto lists the the center pivot/bolt.
