Hello. I am about to sell my 2008 FX4 to my company. I am thinking about using the Marauder as my travel vehicle. So, I was wondering if anyone has done the complete Cobra engine transmission swap on a Marauder. I have been looking at the takeouts for some time and I think it would make the car much more fun to drive. Hell, it should have come this way in the first place. Here is one of the kits. They come with everything even down to the pedal assembly.

Thoughts?
This Marauder had the "COMPLETE COBRA SWAP" done to it.

It would be very cool but also very expensive.
Don't forget you need to add in a labor bill unless you are really handy and getting the Cobra harness to work with the Marauder cluster will be a challenge.

I would use the Marauder harness and computer, and tune for the new motor while eliminating the trans schedule. Since this swap has been done a couple of times, there is some info out there on the swap.
Or..... you could just take that motor with the whipple, and stick them in your Marauder, add a tune and maybe some long tubes, and there ya go.....

It's gonna need a frame notch to clear the alternator or use the marauder timing cover and get eaton swap brackets

Doom, you are the man. Every post that I have been involved with you have have come up with great information. Thank you. BTW, I have money. If I chose to do this I can make it happen. I think this would make for a great Marauder.
I wish you the best of luck and success!
Keep us posted!
For that money I'll sell you a Eaton swapped Marauder, keep yours stock...

So, TBF, you are saying you will sell me your car for $10,000? With an Eaton?

Swap is best choice nowadays. Unless you want a project to play with.

You tell me? Not exactly a Termi trans, better, a 2012 GT 500 TR6060 with twin disc.
Before you even contemplate the thought of a swap its best that you own some basic hand tools like this. Or a beautiful wife who buys them for you.. 😜

Now for some pics, mind you I only started last week and nothing you will see is finished thanks to my daytime plumbing gig and snow plowing.

OEM shifter.

Marauder converted.

Tunnel is now cut much more. 5" X 14" IIRC for the shifter to mount under the car like its suppose to.
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/02/04/redasu4a.jpg
Shifter boot. No trimming on the counsel needed. Only minor trimming of the plastic frame under the boot itself.

This trans not only requires a new trans tunnel but set at the exact tail shaft height, the mount is at the same elevation as the old cross member. Could I find a way to "make" it work? Sure, but that isn't my style.
*not finished, just 90% and mostly just squared up and tacked."

I doubt I will be able to finish this and may have to go back to the auto to make the Louisville meet because of other commitments that start up in two weeks, because I am also dropping in my Termi block and cams. But I am gonna give it hell!

Oh BTW, mechanical clutch pedals are for the hacks. 😊 Go hydraulic! 😜
Also keep this between you, me and the Internet please. I don't want this to get out yet,
Complimentary booby pic included.

Thanks everyone. I'll start a thread when it's more towards completion with plenty of pics. Fact is I should not have started this with only a 3-4 week window. Not too mention we just now started to get snow for the season. 😔 I am pretty tired and burned out, but I wanted to at least get most of my homework done, the kind you need a tranny bolted up to get.
If its not done before Louisville, you can bet your bottom I'll be all over that when I get back! We shall see.

Everything looks super nice. Now just make two of everything while your at it and send me the bill. I think, after looking at some things, that I want to do the 6-speed swap and do the Eaton later. You have inspired me. Your Halo is in the mail.

Tom Doan (on this site) swapped in a complete Cobra motor wayyyyy back when.
Had to notch the front frame to clear the alternator IIRC.
It cost him a ton of money....but it works really well!

I looked into putting a complete Cobra engine,no tranny, into my Marauder a while ago...To pay a shop to do it was between 1500 and 2000 plus any additional parts that might be needed...The Trans is a whole other issue....Bob,yours is looking good...Best of luck with it...Not many owners have your skills....BTW...The complete Cobra motor with stock Eaton was $3500....
Or a beautiful wife who buys them for you..
