Took my car to the track just to see what it could do right off the street. No air pressure adjustments (32psi). Ran at 3/4 of full boost (12psi instead of 16psi). And I didn't launch the car, just braked and loaded the TC a bit. I daily drive this car (1,200 miles a month) and have been on the current build since July. Good times :)

and that was with it shifting right before the traps :) I need to decide if I should go 3.55's or 3.27's...

Nice! Doing good out the back half (21mph). It will be nice to see you cut a (1.5-1.6) 60'

You are making some decent power to run that ET with that 60' time. The car is running well on the big end. Nice!!

Yeah my 60' is due to me not launching the car at all. Like I said I drive the car daily and WOT daily. I treasure my drive-train :)

Also I don't run it at full boost or launch because I don't want people to know how fast my car really is :) They will just have to find out, ha ha ha... :D

I had someone at a meet ask me how much HP my car made, I told him it can make 250whp. They were like "yeah that sounds about right". I then told him, it can also make 350whp... :) He looked confused...

P.S. My car was shifting around 110mph into 4th...

Awesome man! Makes me want to boost the Marauder even more!

When I used to race my Crown Vic (stock besides bolt ons and swaybars), I generally mashed the gas at the second yellow and had RT's sub .050, but that was only 100 ft holeshot drags at the local oval track.

You need to turn the OD off next time then! You said you treasure your drivetrain right?!

No need I got a hardened OD :)

Yeah, fully built tranny (force lube mod, aluminum driveshaft, jmod, etc), I slam into OD all the time, I have put over 50K on that built tranny, it is awesome, even if it failed tomorrow I would have my money's worth out of it. Thanks to Lonnie at BOC :)

But yeah I am thinking of going back to 3.27's.

No need I got a hardened OD :).Tell me you're joking. Right? That's like saying "I'm not worried about that tank shooting at me, I have a bullet proof vest on."

When you're WOT, and that OD band attempts to clamp that drum with the entire power from the engine, and weight of the car pushing against a band like 2" thick, it's not pleasant. I'm in awe if you've done this a bunch of times with no ill results.

Not sure what you mean? I do WOT every time I drive my car with and without the OD off, I have never had a problem. Granted I have always had a built trans. Maybe I am stupid, who knows, maybe I have just been that lucky???

But yeah, that's how I have driven the last 50,000 miles on it. Guess I could change my style. I change the fluids every year on the tranny no matter the miles. I also never launch the crap out of my car (aka load the crap out of the torque converter).

But yeah, who do you know who has busted the OD? I know it used to happen to people all the time, but haven't heard of it happening in a while... Then again I am only making like 500ish HP.

That's why. This is what typically happens to a 4R OD band when left on (courtesy of TCCOA):

So how do you explain the fact that my setup has been fine?

The only guess I have is that my tuning has been that good?

Because like I said I do this all the time with no issue.

I got my transmission built by Lonnie at BOC at a time when he and Darrin used to build them (yeah it was that long ago). I have a "stage II" TC from BOC that I got at the same time (10.25").

I get the photos you are showing me, but I just haven't had that happen. And trust me I run my car all the time. I have gone through two motors because of other issues (first wasn't built and boost got the better of me (Cameron knows what that is like) and the second was bad tuning (fried the heads)), but this has all been on the same trans and rear diff. I did have my tail shaft leak one time this year and had the bushings replaced.

Anyway, I want to make it clear I am not saying you all are wrong, I am just giving you all my own personal experience, not what I heard on the internet.

I quoted you and put the important part above that in BOLD. :D I'm rebuilding my trans to take 1,000+hp, but, still will not put it in OD when WOT. I'm sure it will take it, especially with the heavy duty Kevlar OD band, but, just to be safe.

Yeah, well guess I have just been living my life on the edge... But I don't own an Edge TC, so I can't say I have truly lived on the "Edge", ha ha ha I love puns...

:)

Rich (nth10s) burned an OD band up one time IIRC correctly, and I believe all that happened was it went into OD one time when he didnt want it to (under a lot of power). I just know when you change gears in an auto, you want the clutch packs in the drums to eat the punishment, not a band.
