I would like to know what Roads in America do you consider to be the BEST to Drive or the Best Drives in America. Location, Best time to Drive it, and maybe some pictures. Maybe this will start locations where everyone can meet and drive together!

Thanks!

Best driving roads? The best to me are right outside my door and so is yours, you know, the little two lane blacktop off the the state numbered highways with the letter designations. County Road AD off Hwy 125 , Greene County, MO. One of my Buds, knocking the dust out his Mustang after a long winter, a couple years ago.
Set-up:
1998 Mustang GT
Sachs Stage 1 Clutch
Built 8.8 rear end w/ 3:73's
Springs cut 1 coil
Flowmaster cat back exhaust
MAC cold air intake
Steeda underdrive pullies

At 2:36 you can see Bambi making a quick exit from the side of the road....;)

This video uses fancy computer editing to create the illusion of speed. All traffic laws were observed during filming. Drive safe...:D

I recommend PA-259 (http://goo.gl/maps/BHh68) outside of Latrobe. Went down there in fall 2008 for a CVN meet and hustled my '02 Marquis around some of the twistiest, hilliest, sparsely-traveled road I've ever been on. It. Was. Awesome.

Alternately, there are some really killer roads in a 10-mile radius around Scio, OH (http://goo.gl/maps/fK6Er). Lots of sweeping turns and hills, and all the state routes are smooth. Only drawback is that some of the side roads (http://goo.gl/maps/QtdYa) are laughable at best...

Not too many people in the boonies. I always feel sane in the boonies...:D. The boonies win in terms of quality of life, peace and quiet, not so close neighbors who watch out for ya, but respect your privacy. I grew up in suburbia, outside St. Louis, but spent summers working on the family farm with Grandpa and Uncle Buster, north of Hermann, Mo. These days, I split time, a small log cabin in the county, on a remote 40 acres, 35 miles out of town, and a small apartment in Springfield, MO. A little excessive...but works for me.

Somewhat hard to get to, but you might consider the Hana Belt Road on Maui Island in Hawii, also known as The Hana Highway. 68 miles, 620 curves, 59 bridges (46 of which are 1 way), breathtaking views. Usually a 2 to 2 1/2 hour drive. Many mongoose and ferral cats, waterfalls and pools in which you can swim and soak. A pastel colored bark eucalytus trees.

That sounds AWESOME! I'll have to check it out next time I'm out there. Probably won't be for 5 or more years, but I'll be looking forward to it the whole time.

The road to Hana is darn nice, the problem is the expenses involved getting and staying there.

US-60 - Florence Junction east to Show Low, AZ -- you start in the beautiful saguaro cactus filled Sonoran Desert and head up the mountains east of the Phoenix area through some nice curves in the canyons. The scenery is lovely until you get to the strip mined mountains around Globe, AZ. From there you head north-east to the Salt River Canyon and take switch backs down and up the canyon walls to where you get to the Pine trees of Show Low. It makes for a great day trip.

AZ-88 - Apache Trail east of Apache Junction, AZ passed Canyon Lake to Tortilla Flats.

I haven't found any good roads in Oklahoma yet. Most go straight and are flat

Kancamangus Highway and Mt Washington Auto Road (toll), both in New Hampshire.

Can't drive fast on either road, but the views, especially from Mt Washington, are stunning.

There are stretches on the Mt Washington Rd where you can get a bit nervous. Very narrow. Cars going up and coming down have to squueze a bit. No big SUVs allowed.

I've done it four times over the years, and it just doesn't get old.

My last trip up/down, I took my 2003 TBird with the roof down. Fantastic ride, and I got a lot of use out of the car's "select shift" transmission feature.

Weather conditions on the peak vs the base can be very different. Bring a jacket.

I've done parts of the Pacific Coast Highway, I will do it all one day.

I-64 in WV is full of tight corners, carving between the mountains especially just south of Charleston

for its natural beauty, Denver to Vegas on I-70W to I-15S, it's a must drive once in your life.

For really carving corners, nothing beats the small roads at the base of the mountains here in PA, they twist and turn, many times with huge elevation changes, the only problem is that sometimes they sometimes turn into gravel roads for a mile or two. I've gotten lost on them for hours and I've never been disappointed. even better they are right around me and most people don't know they exist.
