Architect

I was in the process of replacing my License Plate light lens cover...
Got a great used one right here on Marauder.net and noticed that the light socket was partially melted... Took the lens off mine and it was the same way... be willing to bet every bodies is the same...
I'm pretty sure someone has already changed theirs out to LED... should be easy, but I wanted to see how some other folks did it before I started...
Any ideas...:help:
Thanks, Architect

LEDs are the way to go. They use less power and generate almost no heat.

I bet your center gauges are burned / melted also.

I can supply an LEDs if you want them.

PM me.

Very common on Marauders.

But for some strange reason I never had this issue on my Vic's or my Grand Marquis!

Yes LED is the way to go. That's what I'm using on my marauder now.

LEDs are for nancy-boys and ricers...a REAL man uses big fat power-hungry blast-furnace incandescent bulbs. Lots of them.

Do you have to change the bulb socket or what is involved in changing over to LED s .?

Depends on how burned up the bulb socket is. Mine was pretty burnt up but was able to save it. When using an 194 LED bulb it's just a matter of putting in, turn the parking lights on, if it doesn't turn on, take it out and switch the bulb around since it only has one pin on each side of the bulb, one is positive, one is negative.

Welcome DOOM! Pics don't do it justice but there is a light output increase. I used a 360 degree "3 Chip" 5 LED 5000k for the tag light, which can be used for a bunch of other things in the car as well.

Yep so do I but usually have my headlights on as well since the front side marker bulb only lights up the headlights are on and you activate the turn signal.

Melting is especially common on supercharged Marauders due to electron pooling at the socket... It's easy for them to flow towards the socket, but flow is impeded back toward the battery under high periods of boost, a trunk mounted battery can help...

I'm in agreement on this observation...
