This is why I bought a big ole' hillbilly truck and slapped a plow and salt spreader on it... No snow here in two years, and it looks like my investment will sit idle again this winter...

I wish! I'm not sure old Blue could make it all the way up to Taxachusetts, much less plow anything once I got there! :D

You're in the 3-6" band, aren't you BDJ?

Or are you hearing local forecasts that gave higher accumulations?

NEMO is the name the Weather Service attached to the storm. It seams that now every storm in the Northeast needs a name:confused:

12/14" at least for North Jersey.

Decided to park my Explorer and LS down by the street instead of shoveling the entire 7 car driveway.

I figure that gives me less area to shovel to get the two cars out, but also means that my TBird and Galaxie will spend a lot of time in the garage.

Since I'm recovering from laser surgery (three plus weeks ago), I decided to shovel more frequently, which means shoveling less snow at each shot.

I'd rather shovel 1.5" five times than 7.5" once.

Took my Explorer out for her first snow ride since I bought her last May. I was like a kid with a new toy.

What snow?

There is about 3 different kinds of precip falling out of the sky right now. My sis about 20 miles east (towards RI) has reported THUNDERsnow ;7.

Lights blinked once and my wife's Mini is all but completely buried in the driveway.

Fun stuff as long as the lights stay on the rest of the night.

Best,
Jonathan

Being a weather guy in the AF for 20+ years and having an interest in weather since the 6th grade, I honestly think that the role the Weather Channel has taken in regards to naming winter storms is the most ridiculous thing EVER! :shake:

What's next? Tornadoes?

I can confirm Thundersnow as well. I'm in the Mystic, CT area. Pretty cool stuff.

Got only 10 inches of show here in Queens, NY but Suffolk county in Long Island got over 2 feet with snow drifts of 3+ feet! Cars have been stranded on the Long Island expressway over night and plows can't get through because of them. Hope Krytin and the rest of the LI MM'er are ok and checks in soon.

News just said that 40 (!!!) inches feel in Shelton, CT?!!! Holy crap!!!

I'm in East Haven (32" snowfall...not including drifts as I write this!). My sister lives in Gales Ferry so looks like she's in town with you (and running on a generator since about 10 PM last night)...

11" here in north Jersey, but they said we'd be on the western fringe of the storm. Think we dodged the big bullet because at one point they were suggesting that 16 " was possible. Our road is already very passable at this hour. Lights stayed on and I'm on my 2nd cuppa coffee just enjoying the view across the river. Hope all those north and east are safe and sound.

I guess you could say I got just a little bit of snow...28" at the local airport which is less than a mile from me.

Let me add Winterforce FTW!!!!! I run them on all fours on my Marquis, and they got me home intact, and without drama. It took me only 2 1/2 hours for my 35 commute on the Long Island Expressway so I shouldn't complain, and I actually made it home at 9:30PM. I was able to pass all wheel drive cars and SUV's who all had trouble making it up the long grades as you can see in the picture below from the news.
It was snowing and blowing so hard that even at about 20 MPH I pratically drove right by my exit. I've driven in alot of Blizzards, and I would say that this one was by far the worst. Heck at least it got me a very rare Saturday off http://www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/default/laugh.gif

....and now for your viewing pleasure:

It's been so nice over the past few days, I shoveled out the driveway so that I can use the Galaxie and the TBird.

Drove the TBird yesterday, streets were blacktop.

Just a dusting of snow last night.

Taking the Galaxie out tomorrow.
