View Full Version : lights turned off while giving lots of gas
Recentley my MM has had some hesitation during hitting the gas. Not driving %100. Feels like it"s choking a bit maybe a sputter here and there between low idel change in gears. But garanteed when floored. Not smoothlike a rocket anymore. I punched the gas lastnight and my head lights and maybe my interior turned out for a sec. Happen twice. Could this be a coil problem, altinator, loose batery cable, ground? i have 124,000 on her and think the coils are original. Thanks in advance.

Could be a loose cable either + or -.
How old is the battery? If it's on it's way out you'll get all kind mysterious issues.....
Take the MM to a FLAPS or Sears and let them check out the battery and charging system.
The LCM might also be going out.
Probably not the COPs.
I can fix the LCM for you.
the lcm is about a year old. battery is 2 years old.I still havnt sent you my old LCM yet.

Still get the battery & charging system checked out.
Check the battery terminals..... clean and tight.
Check all the ground connections... clean and tight also.
Check the wiring harness behind the drivers side cam cover, it may be rubbing on a bolt from the cowl.
I will do that today thanks.

Falcun tune? Pony if your gonna spend that much mony why didn't you just go with the Eagle instead of the falcon tune!!!!!!! I know it's not sold anymore and maybe thats why not many are using it! :-)
Everything seems to be ok how do I check the MAF? Just buy a new one? Now when I'm hitting the gas hard I hear a popping noise and powers just not there. At a low rpm just under 2000 I sometimes feel a hesitation also.

Clean the MAF, IAC and throttle body.
Use the appropriate cleaner for each.
Plenty of how-to's on the internet.

Had this problem too, worrying that my coils, alternator, battery, etc were all going bad. I removed and bench tested the alternator and battery, overlooking the terminal clamp itself, which crumbled in my pliers with just a little bit of pressure. Probably could have prevented this easily by spending 5 minutes at the beginning and end of each driving season by cleaning and drying the terminals and terminal clamps and dabbing on dielectric grease. Cobbled together a quick fix for $15 from Autozone junk until I get around to getting an OEM replacement.
