View Full Version : Do I have everything I need?

Hello Ladies and Gents! I am new to the forum. I recently purchased an Eaton swap online. Parts came off of a 03 Cobra, with about 30,000 miles. I just want to know if I have everything I need to do the Eaton swap? Pictures are below. If I was to bring what I have to a speed shop, would I be set? Or what else would I need to purchase? I am not a motor head, and could not even tell you all the names of the parts in the pictures. Some of you may think I’m an idiot, but I've never had the luxury of learning the trade of a mechanic. I still like to go FAST if that counts!! So please be patient. Anyway, the pictures below are what I already have. Thanks in advance for responses!
I also have a Cobra timing cover that is not in the pictures below. I do know that I will also need a new CAI and MAF. Suggestions on which CAI I will need to purchase. Also battery relocation, New gauges? Should I wait until I purchase headers and gears before I do the swap, and get everything installed at once?

Does the last picture look ok? Is all that sludge normal wear and tear?

i'm not sure the cobra is a direct swap to the marauder, someone is certain to chime in who knows

You really don't need half that stuff in the first few pics. You will want to use the Marauder front cover and "Gortch" brackets.
Reuse the Marauder Alternator, use a Cobra inlet tube with your MAF or better yet a 90 MM Lightning MAF and a 4" filter.
Do you have a coolant reservoir for the heat exchanger, or a pump, or the relay? I've never used them hoses either, instead just regular heater hoses with prefabbed 90's.
Boost A Pump will be needed for the fuel pump.
39# injectors
Belt
Metco Lower hub and ring
You better check out the Eaton parts thread on here. You seem to be missing quite a bit.

Thanks!!

Actually, my plan was to go to Mo's. I just don’t want to bring him what I have, and then have to leave my car there for weeks/months because I didn’t have everything I needed. Thanks again.

The guy I bought the kit from "told me" it was a complete eaton swap kit, and that he would give me everything I needed. Guess I got jipped, but it's my own fault for not knowing.

+2 for MO's....I drove 680 miles when i did my vortech install since I knew they would know if something was missing from the set-up I bought from a member who never installed..and sure enough I need a proper fuel pump and not what was with it..so excellent choice for MO's to do it:banana2:

Well you did buy an eaton swap and it would swap to an 03 mustang i presume using those parts..it requries a little fine tuning is all to have it work on a marauder..No worries, plenty of people here that have all the necessary info for you to make it complete.

Well if Mo is reading and responds to my thread.. ..Here is my question. If I brought you exactly what I have in the pictures… could you/ do you have access to buying the missing parts? Or will I have to continue the scavenger hunt?

I see your pump now, so uncheck that one.
This is what drives me absolutely NUTS.
Besides my Trilogy kit (thanks Chris) I have yet to see anything even remotely "complete"..
Seems there is a lot of mild retardation involved with most sellers train of thought. When I say complete, I mean down to every single last bolt. Is it really that hard?
You have most of the main ingredients. But as with any "complete" kit, it will nickel and dime you on the small stuff. Read up and get yourself edjamacted. 👍 You'll do just fine. Welcome aboard.

It could well be a complete swap for a Mustang, but that doesn't equate to what's needed to do an Eaton swap in a Marauder.

PM me with your e-mail address, and I can send you some more info on the Eaton swap.

Two things you'll definitely want to acquire before taking the car, and the parts, to Mo's:

A modified crossover tube (COT). An OEM unit will need to be cut and re-welded to shorten and lower it for clearance. These are gettng hard to find, so locating one may take a while.

A set of brackets (one for alternator, the other for mounting the belt tensioner) I don't know lead time on them, PM gortch; he makes them.

It's been a while since I have logged on.

More question(s).... Do I, or do I NOT need the cobra timing cover for the Eaton swap? I can just use the custom brackets (made by a member here) correct?
