This is quite possibly the newb thread of the year, but I am looking for some clarification when it comes to the SCT Xcalibrator tuner.
Here's the scenario:
My old (wrecked) Marauder, I bought an SCT Xcal 2 with Dennis Reinhart tune for 3.55 and 4.10 gears. (At the time I bought the tune, i had not installed the 4.10s yet but was planning on it.)
Ok so fast forward to my purchase of my 2nd Marauder. Previous owner had it dynoed and tuned and has an SCT X Cal 2 as well. I, unfortunately, did not grab the tuner when I picked up the car. I am working on trying to get it from him, but in the meantime, I wanted to ask this question:
Can I use my existing Xcal2 with the 4.10 tune on the car or does it need to be unlocked first? Ideally I'd like to get in touch with Lidio or Mo for a better tune than the DR one, but that's a separate conversation. I am just curious if I need to get the Xcal from the seller in order to do any type of custom tuning work or can I use my existing XCAL?
Thanks in advance. I know it's kind of confusing so let me know if you need me to clarify anything.

The tuner needs to be either unlocked, Marty or Lidio can most likely do this.
Since you didn't return the car to the stock tune the tuner is no "locked" to the old VIN.
I suggest you get the tuner from the seller and use that.
Get your old tuner "unlocked" and sell it.

This is all correct except that we have to send the tuner(s) back to SCT to be unlocked.

Sorry for the delay in my response but thank you for both for the responses. I'm hopefully going to be picking up the tuner from the original owner on Saturday. Marty I'd like to take steps next to send it to you to unlock and then let's talk about a tune. thanks

If you have PRP you don't have to send it back to SCT to unlock it.

Let's say Hypothetically, I wasn't able to get the tuner back from the previous owner
Is there any way to "overwrite" the tune on the car currently? Or is the car forever stuck with this tune?

You will need an unlocked tuner with a new tune to over ride the tune that is installed already.

Yes this is actually quite helpful, thank you!

So really I could just send my tuner to Mo or Lidio have them unlock it and put in one of thier tunes?
I think it's Pro Racer Package.
How do I know if I have this?
