View Full Version : SCT tuner Question

So I have one of these tuners from Lidio and like the tune very much. I know the tuner is now locked to my car but was wondering if I could still use it to read codes from other vehicles.
My tuner didn't come with an instruction manual from Lidio and I don't know if it normally comes with one or not. I looked at the SCT web page and didn't note if it should have a paper booklet or not.
I also noted they sell an aluminum MAF housing that probably looks better than the stocker but it says it's for cars needing more air like S/C cars. Will it work OK on an N/A car? Anybody try one of them out? Would like to see a pic of it on your car if you can post. Will it fit a K&N? The filter side looks like it would but not sure about the tunnel side w/o digging out the OEM unit to compare.
Thanks for your help :)

If you have an Xcal3, yes you can use it to pull codes and that's it.
No that MAF will not work on your car, it needs to be calibrated by a tuner for your car and being close to stock levels it would be a waste of money unless you had to have it just because it's shiny.

I believe all handheld tuners will read codes even if they're VIN-locked for the tune. Some will only read the specific brand of car the tune was purchased for, but that may be just the older ones. IOW, you can read codes on both your car and Paula's but not on your buddies Toyota, for instance.

Without seeing the MAF, I would venture on it being 90MM, and it would not fit an 80MM K&N. And like Chris said, it would require a dyno tune.

I have looked (albeit not 100% on the MM.net site) for info on where to purchase a "TUNE" for my '04 DTR MM I just purchased (but have yet to even lay eyes on). I am about to embark on a 1,000 mile journey and would prefer to make this trip "untuned", BUT, and there is always a BIG BUT, I will want to tune her the minute I arrive safely home.
Is there more than one company that offers a "tune" - If so, which company offers the best quality tune equipment?
Telephone number? Specific MM friendly individual to ask for??
Let the Modding begin!!!!!
Thanks!!

Contact Marty of Mo's for a tune and tuner. He's a vendor on the site.
