So I've determined that my 03 has developed the dreaded valve tick and that its time to have the heads re done. I'm going to have them both done since I'll be in there anyways. My question is do I find a set of 04 heads and pitch these? Or do I stick with these and do the cooling mod?

I have the same prob & will get it fixed, but found out it was the Timing Chain Tensioner. (http://www.vauxhallownersnetwork.co.u k/index.php?threads/z22yh-timing-chain-tensioner.240052/)
Is the tick on top of the head or below the head.
The Tensioner (http://www.vauxhallownersnetwork.co.u k/index.php?threads/z22yh-timing-chain-tensioner.240052/) is just below where the head's bolt to the block.
I was told the these are known to tick & could damage the motor.

I installed the ford racing timing kit last weekend and the tick is still there. I thought that's what it was too. But I had a tech come look at it and he says its in the heads

Other ? Would be to I snag the 98 cobra cams that are listed in the for sale section? Would it be worth it?

Are you going to mod the engine with anymore go fast parts, exhaust, etc?

If you are then go ahead and do the cams when you have the heads redone. If you are going to stay stock then you would be wasting your money.

I personally would do it if I had to get the heads re-done but that is just me.

The car has kooks long tubes, flows, a jlt cold air, 4:10's and a tune. I also plan to spray it. So I'll pick the cams up.
