This is why I said each month should have a theme so the car of the month was actually out in the street that month for the photo theme. Maybe next month will be different, probably not.

When i suggested photos be taken the month of no one wanted to be because no one wants to take their car covers off. :lol:

Being a newbie here I can see both sides. I lean toward the "friendly" compition. I love taking pics of my car in the driveway, up a tree, on a side walk or maybe even one day doing a smoky burnout(if the DTR God permits it). Just because this compition starts out as one thing doesn't mean it won't evolve into something else or spawn spinoffs. Alls fair in love and war. Any time you enter something there will be a winner and a bunch of losers. If you don't want to lose, just sit back and watch. I thought it was a pretty cool idea which was why I entered, not necessarily to win just to be in with other kick a$$ car photos. And just because you don't have time to clean her up before you snap the picture, we all know what is lurking beneath the dirt and grime. Just my opinion...

Since there wasn't a whole lot of love for this go around and people's feelings got hurt, how about doing it along these lines:

--Put all Black MMs in one hat/box
--Put all Silver MMs " " "
--Put all DTR MMs " " "
--Put all Blue MMs " " "

Draw one name from each. These 4 will be the Marauders of the Month. Contact each person to see if they want to be featured; if they decline, re-draw. Repeat until 4 MMs (one of each color) are solidified.

Each person chosen will have the option of using old photos or taking new ones and write a story about their car....why, when, and where they bought it and how they found it, etc, etc. The story can be one paragraph or ten pages...owner's choice.

IF there needs to be a competition flavor about it, then MM.net members vote each month which of the four is their favorite; the car with the most votes gets a 'Members Choice' goodie...sticker, hat, t-shirt, patch, whatever...

We could do all of the name-drawin' for the next 6 months at Looseville, then repeat at MV XI.

This was MY attempt at getting this idea off the ground. It has been two months with no action so far and no one stepping forward to make it happen.

When I first saw this thread, I thought, well this is cool. Now, that I see all the comments, I thought, what a cluster****. A great idea that has run amok! Sorry Bluerauder, that your initiative has been met with such griping, and negativity.

We all are a competitive bunch, and proud of our cars. Members ideas of what is "best", is subjective, show cars, daily drivers, low mileage, high mileage, stock or modified, they are all Marauders.

With the large number of members who may want to participate, may I suggest an alternative, "Featured Marauder of the Week" Members would PM their two photos and descriptions. Based upon the submission's date and time, the Marauder would be posted for the week, and then on to the next one, the next week.

No voting, just a nice friendly thread of some of the "best".

My contributions...how about
1)
Categories for different months.
Regions:Each month is a different region..i.e. March only can be submitted by people in East coast.. Next month, southeast, next month midwest marauders..etc. This way everyone gets a chance to submit and compete for their region.
Mileage: Low mileage MMs...200k+ only, etc
Non-OEM wheel,
all factory stock,
daily/garage queen
etc..

Interesting car/photo combination. A cell phone like picture of the work-horse MM covered in daily driver salt may not be the most appealing to submit, but submit whatever you want. Something with artistic blend would make for nice homepage eyecandy..

I didn't really see it as complaining Dom, I actually kind of agree with you. I appreciate Trailered cars as much as Daily Drivers, for a MM of the month, I'd want to choose it based on the story behind it. How it came to be, stories of the driver and the car

In other words I love sleeping with beautiful women, but the woman I marry is the one I can talk to about everything. It's her character, her giving nature, her ability to call me on my bs.

It's nice to sleep with a gorgeous stripper, but that's not who you marry.

Point being, Paul Casey had one beautiful car, 250k plus mileage, most done a quarter mile at a time. Knowing the man Paul was, and the story of his car is appealing.

It may not be a show winner with trophies and platforms to roll on, but that car had a history, a legacy, and it had Character

That's a Marauder of the month

Don't think we should base it on photos and mods, and it shouldn't be a competition, but rather each month, lets feature a members car and their story

Back to your Marauder related postings, I think we share the same point of view. A car should be voted by character, not by looks alone. Now that you mention it I think Pauls car should be the first car of the month. 250,000 miles and burnouts all across the country?!?! A car like that would have my vote in a second. I will stay off my trailer car rant, but only broken cars should be towed in my eyes.

This is why I said each month should have a theme for the photo. One day it can be by a bridge, sunset.... burnout? This would keep it fresh and the car of the month would probably have to be out that month for the photo theme, maybe not, but at least we could have something to be creative with each month instead of random pictures. I know not everyone shares the same view, but it's just a suggestion.

This is the first month anyway and it's testing the waters. I didn't even expect to be ahead of anyone because of how dirty my car is. It's fun, but it's what I expected. Car's that win best of show do not have triple digit miles unless it was a frame off restore.

As Ms. Denmark said, any Marauder is eye candy.
