Didn't find a thread explaining what I needed so I started another.

Will be lowering my car by cutting the springs once it gets a bit warmer outside. My questions is from what end are most people cutting their springs, the top coil or the bottom? Thanks for the help

Super important to take measurements of the ride height on the front driver & passenger side before cutting the springs. Once cut and re-installed take measurement again of both sides to ensure you retain the same height or the same difference between driver and passenger side.

I cut 3/4 of a coil and it dropped 3/4 of an inch.

That's exactly what I plan to cut off

Thanks for the sound advice, may be a dumb question but when taking measuring where would be ideal area to start the measurements to get the most accurate height between the two sides

Does this affect ride quality at all good or bad.

Measure from the ground up to the center of the fender lip.

Any time you change the suspension... cutting springs, changing ride height, changing sway bars, changing rear control arms you WILL affect ride quality. Sometimes for the better... sometimes worse.

Remember to have the front end realigned. I guess Car Fixers specs are still applicable.

I did feel ride quality suffer when cutting the coils. But I think it is worth it for the appearance and handling improvements gained.

Yeah I'm not worried about it riding rough by any means but I've seen botched jobs and the cars handle like poop. Like riced out civics.

On my MGM I cut 3/4 of the top coil off, and it cut my height by about 1". (P71 Springs) I noticed a slightly stiffer ride in the corners, but over expansion joints and bumps it seemed comparable to stock.

After doing an autocross run on the new setup it seemed to control roll much better on quick weight transfer sections.

I would consider going lower, but I would have to resolve some other suspension issues first.

In my case, I need to make / buy a set of higher adjustment camber bolts, because with the cut coils, my camber is now beyond correcting with the stock adjustment bolts.

Sorry forgot to add that part.

Measure twice and cut once.

You can use some painters/masking tape to mark off where the center is so you don't have to find it again and also use 2 piece of tape on both sides of where you want to cut on the coil to help make sure you cut straight.
