A co-worker has decided to part with his Marauder after buying a new Taurus SHO (I have Charlie's attention now). Its a black 2003 and I believe its a 300A, dash clock, seat pockets etc. No heated seats. He's an older guy and takes great care of his cars. I drove this car about a year ago and it was awesome. The only worry I have is it has 160k on the clock. The other problem is that I spent all of my car cash two years ago for my '04 Sport. I love my '04, it has 77k on it. The dilemma is do I keep the CV with less mileage or unload it and buy the Marauder. This Marauder is not my dream car either, I ultimately I would want an '04 SB w/heated seats. I'm going to go look at it just so I don't regret it, but what do you guys think? I don't know about price either, he hasn't set a number.
Decisions, decisions.

1st, let your conscious be your guide.
2nd, if the price isn't right then pass and hold out for what you really want. if it'll hold its value till you get what you want then do it. My 2 cents is around 5 if its bone stock. That's without checking it out myself of course.
Good luck with your decision.

If I wasn't typing with two fingers I would have beat you to the value, now I look like a copy cat:alone:

Agreed, go with your gut. If you want to hold off for an SB do it/
of course on the other hand, my gut says buy it until you can find an SB and then sell the black Marauder for profit or trade.
catch 22 i know :(

Yep get a great deal or pass....you should know by looking at it and if you do or do not "get that feeling"...At least this is how I determine if I am buying a car.

I wouldn't. The MM has more than double the miles.

It's not the color you desire so why are you asking us?

If it was me, I would wait to get something you want and not settle.
Hold out for the SB!
How much would you sell the Vic for if you decide to get the Marauder? :D

that's not entirely true. i was looking daily coast to coast for a decent blue.
and without much hesitation (and a wonderful wife) jumped all over the silver, all though 641rwhp
helped sway me:beatnik:
plus how much is a gallon of paint?

Checked out the car today. Not bad, needs some work, I think I'm going to stick with my sport for now. Thanks for all the opinions.

I wouldn't give up my MM at 140k for one with 1/3 the miles. I've restored nearly everything and it runs better than new and is fast as f*** with no S/C.
It's all in how the machine is cared for.

My own view here (and it is only that) is that you made the right call here...too many times in a former life, I have purchased something I did not REALLY want for whatever reason it was...and I always seemed to be less than satisfied when I did.
Lots of miles on that rascal too...whew

I think so too. The body was in ok shape, needs a repaint though. Felt like it needed rotors and the trans was slipping a bit. Needs a good bath inside and out. The owner is going to Florida for the month and left me the keys....soooo I do have a Marauder at my disposal...which is pretty cool. Its a 300A for sure. Still dont have a price on it.

slipping trans? Wow. At 160K miles, there are A LOT of items that are worn out and need replacing. And he probably has not replaced them. F/R complete suspension, shocks, axles, limited slip clutches, bearings, alternator, idler and tensioner, the list goes on and on.
If he doesn't have receipts for a significant chunk of the items listed above, you get to replace them all in order to make it a nice car. Which can be worth doing, you get to do it how you like. But the price has to reflect this or you get ripped off.

I gave this car one last thought a few days ago. My friend that owns it is out of town and he left me the keys. I pick it up and gave it a good detail inside and out. It sure was nice to drive it. It needs rotors for sure, the trans seems to hunt between 2-3 shift. Not sure if it just needs a fluid change or a rebuild. It was fun to drive for a few days but I think I made my final decision and am going to stick with my Sport for now. My sport is a year newer and has less then half the miles of the Marauder. This Marauder is not bad but if someone has some cash to spend fixing it up, could be a nice car. The interior, leather seats, steering wheel, etc., are all in excellent condition. The pedals don't move (surprise!), and the LED's on the passenger door lock switch are out. Other then that the interior is great. I'll post his asking price when he comes up with one, just incase there is any interest.

Please do the miles don't scare me a bit.

Yup I'm up there and is still a cool good running car.
