Anyone using the Granatelli Coil connectors kit? I am asking because I was thinking about buying the 38-1705mpg kit and wanted to make sure it would fit. Thanks.

Anyone??? Worth upgrading?
I have the Granatelli box in my hand,...
"Hard Core Series, Pereformance Ignition Kit - 28-1705S"
My idle was smoother, and no issues here in several thousand miles.
I cannot say a performance gain, but they are a helluva lot better than the OEM connectors.
I'll find my install thread and post back soon.
;)

I have them on my car, several other people do as well. I think they make the car idle more smoothly. Some say they prevent spark plug blow outs, but I don't know for sure. I went and looked to see if I still had the box so I could get the part number for you, but alas it is gone. I paid $100 for mine from lightningforceperformance.com a couple of years ago, FWIW.

Thanks for the replies guys. The ones I am looking at are their MPG series I guess they are supposed to help with mpg but no biggy to me just found them for a hell of a deal and I believe they are pretty much the same as the standard connectors.

I have the solid cop connectors too. They are a good upgrade. They have zero ohms resitance. They allow the energy from the coil to transfer with less resistance than factory, so you get more juice to the plug.
I'm getting MSD coils from Triple Threat! (Thanks Joe) and will use the GMS solid connectors with them. Using the ropes now with factory COPS.

My set fell apart on my second spark plug change. 6 different ends either pulled off or fell off and 2 of the insulators were cracked or broken. Went to change the spark plugs because I was getting misfires.
Threw em in the garbage and put stock coil on plug springs back in.

I have these on my car as well and love them! Smooth idle and far better connectors than the factory slinky springs!
Just get em!

I chased a "Phantom Misfire" for months and the Granatelli connectors fixed it......well worth the investment!!:bows:
I also believe that my OEM coils are still alive at 246K miles due to these connectors!!:bows:

I have 130k + miles on mine. One of the crimps came loose but I just re-crimped it and has been fine since.
These follow the same principle of doing the Big 3 upgrade, more heavy duty strands of metal easily allowing more of the coil power to transfer to the spark plug.
I will be buying a brand new set of the Granatelli coil connectors and new OEM coils for my new engine while keeping my current stuff as backups/extras.

Here is the difference.
Guess which one is the factory connector?

I won't waste my money on these again. The crimps on mine looked like a 5th grader did it. The replacement "hand picked" ones were not much better. I noticed nothing whatsoever using them.

Mine have been installed since 2005, have been through at least two plug changes a year, swapping the cam covers, etc..... never had a problem with them coming apart. Nothing like hearing that "click" when you push the coil back on.

Jim, you counter my statement every time this comes up. I am glad you and so many others have had great luck. But I feel the need to warn that just like any product, there is bad apples as well. A couple of others including myself haven't been so lucky and quite frankly feel screwed.

It's hard to find good prisoners these days.
I have these on my car.
No issues at all.

I have these also (with new Ford coils) and do like the solid mechanical connection. I have also experienced one crimped connector coming loose, so I have to agree that quality control is poor.
There is no electrical improvement afforded by these parts. The fact that they have slightly lower resistance is completely irrelevant. Did we all forget that our spark plugs are resistor plugs? So a few ohms in the spring thing makes absolutely no difference.
One should pay a little attention to basic electrical theory before just assuming that less resistance is better. In this case it is swamped out by the plug, not to mention the resistance of the spark gap itself! If you like the mechanical build of the Granatellis, fine. But they make zero difference in spark energy. Just goes to show how much marketing matters.
If you're trying to cure a misfire, replace the ignition coils (which come with "wires" anyway) and spark plugs first.

I agree 100% and spark plugs cannot back out with the Granatellis!!
The springs are plated steel and corrode at the junction and connections......less resistance means less heat and more spark....probably not measurable but 246K miles with OEM coils is pretty damn good in my book!!:bows:
