Working on an upgrade / repair of the lights for the EATC buttons.

Will replace the incandescent bulbs with LEDs.

I have test unit that I will be installing tomorrow.

I now have replacement LEDs for the EATC unit. You will still need to send your EATC as there is some work involved.

It worked great! See post #33 for a picture.

This will not change the color of the EATC illumination... just make it brighter and longer lasting.

The cost is $55.00 which includes new o-rings.

This will fix the button illumination.

I haven't seen the LCD panel burn out........ yet.

Is this a fix where we have to send in the EATC to you or something you ship out and we can replace ourselves?

Will have to send it to me. Need to rework the power to the bulbs and install LEDs. Alot of soldering involved.

Changing the colors is tough to do since Ford uses white lights that shine through a green filter / coating. Removing that filter / coating isn't cost effective and rarely works right. If it was an easy fix I'd be more than happy to do it.

Here is what I will offer.

If you just need the lights replaced with LEDs the cost will be $55.00 including shipping.

I will replace the o-rings for FREE!

Jim,
What kind of turn around do you have with doing both the LEDs and the o-ring replacement? Looking at being down in Knightsdale area the weekend of August 24th.

Unless you want to do (or pay) for a lot of labor, changing the color isn't easy due to the way Ford designed the EATC. If you were able to change the colors of the buttons you still will have the LCD in green.

I'll investigate some more.....

Gotcha! It's probably like the insrument cluster where there is a green paint on a plastic laminate. I'll have to investigate further and report back. I'll find a way! :D

If possible to change the button color the LCD panel will still be green. Need an entire panel in red for that.

I had luck with changing my 95 mustangs clock to blue by replacing the "glass" with a clear lexan and a light filter from a company that does stage lighting. Even though the LCD lights up green the blue filter did great, matched the other lighting very well. I've got a quite a bit of that filter left if you want to try it.

Do you " rebuild" EATC unit as well? I have the infamous " defrost and floor blowing only " condition on my 2004 MM. If I send it to you I would like a rebuild as well as light to LED switch you are talking about.
