I've been watching this board off and on as I was planning on replacing my company lease car (when my current lease is up in July) with an MM. Stopped at the dealer to inquire about when to order to have a MM then. He said it would take about 8 weeks.

Today, however, he e-mailed me to say the order book for 2004's is closing next week and, if I wanted one, I needed to get a deposit down soon.

Is he on the level?

Has it ever been established for sure if there will be a 2005 MM or not?

Thanks.

I'd have the dealer see if he can find you one somewhere. Ordering from factory is dicey this late in production cycle. There are only a couple options you can get anyway, sunroof and heated seats. Trunk organizer is a dealer installed option.

Local dealer here will have a black and a DTR '04 with moonroof arriving soon, like within the next 2 weeks. He has a '04 black on the lot, no sunroof

I spoke to a Director of service at my local dealer yesterday and he stated that Ford is not going to make the Marauder in 2005. This is the last year.

A search on mercuryvehicles.com may help you locate one close by without ordering from factory. Probably be a little cheaper that way.

You might even get lucky and find an 2003 that is still on someone's lot and get a great price on it.

Mrs Marauder on this board is selling her brand new 2003 for $22,900. It has 245 miles.

That is a great great deal.

She is in California

Thanks guys. I checked with another dealer (that normally stocks a MM or two) and got the same story. Orders need to be placed in the next week. I want the dark red over the dark charcoal, heated seats, sun roof, and 6 disk CD. Plan on buying it back when it comes off the company lease and don't want to take a chance of not finding this combination. I also want to take delivery of a "new" car----------that is a car with less than 15 miles on the odometer. Anything coming from inventory will have a bunch of "test" miles on it.

Will get the order going tomorrow night or Thursday. I'll certainly be looking forward to June or July (but not as much as I looked forward to my first new car during the winter of 1966-1967). I ordered the Vette in late November and didn't get it until late March----I wore out 2 brochures looking at them that winter!!!!!!

One of the folks in Canada mentioned on Edmonds board that there
would be some S/C 2005MM's produced at the St Thomas plant.

Anyone else heard that ???

I noticed a 300A for sale on E Bay, the milage was 9K, and the owner says it's condition is perfect. If your not having any luck finding a new MM, give E Bay a try.

Mercury to drop Marauder after '04 model year

By AMY WILSON | Automotive News

DETROIT - Mercury will drop the Marauder performance sedan after the 2004 model year. Production of the Marauder at the St. Thomas, Ontario, assembly plant will end in June, a Mercury spokesman said last week.

"We made a decision to concentrate our resources on the new launches," Mercury spokesman Todd Nissen said. Mercury will introduce the Montego sedan and Mariner sport wagon in September.

Mercury doesn't break out sales for the Marauder, which is part of the Grand Marquis family. The Marauder's base sticker is $34,945, including the destination charge.

Well this just sucks donkey balls. I was hoping you guys were wrong.

Just speculation (wild speculation?), but maybe they're gonna hold back the last production cars and make a limited run of S/C Marauders? Can anyone say Marauder S-55? That'd be cool !!!
