How many of them have you removed?

Do you have to submit to a tailpipe sniffer test?

Not many shops that I've come across have a knowledgeable enough staff to tell you how many cats a car comes with stock, unless you got that (un)lucky.

When I ran "race style" exhaust, I had no problem with inspection, but I also wasn't throwing a CEL.

I just request the waver.

Do you have that option?

Possibly, however I haven't looked into it very much. I don't think Texas has that option, but also unless you live in smog counties you can get away with just about anything in Texas. :depress:

I would GLADLY pay for a yearly permit if it meant I could get an exemption from emissions standards. Hell, I always saw that as a two-fer: not only do car guys get to enjoy their hobby without worrying about keeping road-legal, but it could also create a new (albeit possibly small) source of tax revenue.

What's the issue you are having?

I too have the cats gone. In MO, you have six emissions tests available to pass, and you have to pass five with your MM, given its age. Since your cats are gone, you automatically fail one test, meaning you have to pass five of five.

If you have a tune, you need to know if the tune has bypassed the emissions tests. If so, then you will need to replace the stock tune. When that happens you need to drive the car with the gas tank between 1/4 and 3/4 full for five days worth of duty cycles (cold start thru warm engine) Then the computer should be ready to register the tests.

If your engine is in good shape, you will pass five of five. Be sure to get the two year plates. Doing this once a year is a PITA.

Never had the problem tell this year..Exactly what was the "problem"? In MA, as long as you don't have a CEL and the I/M monitors are all in "Ready" they could care less how many cats you have.

Same here in North Carolina.

No codes... your good to go.

I venture to say that any inspection tech would not know there is supposed to be 4 cats on a Marauder. They see two so all is OK.
