I'm investigating a possible DIY fix for the intermittently working tach.
I need one or two instrument clusters that exhibit the intermittently working tach.
In return you will get back your instrument cluster hopefully with a working tach.
Thanks Guys!

Get anywhere on this? My tach just went a little bonkers at idle today.

Mine had that issue when I bought it and we just fixed a connection right up against the tach.

It is a loose connection that is causing the problem.
Mine has been doing it for years...
I need a little time to fix it.

Was anyone able to zero in on the solution to this? I would be interested in a diy write-up, my newly acquired manual swap marauder is exhibiting the intermittent tach issues and I want to ensure I don't miss shifts. I have some decent soldering skills I can put to work

This is the first Ive ever heard of faulty tachs on a marauder. Interesting enough about 3 months I started my car and the tach took a second before it came alive. I chalked it up to a glitch in the matrix but perhaps my jewel is showing early signs.

Mine will work intermittently. If I accelerate it works, then goes to zero.

My tach will sometimes stay at zero and sometimes will lag way behind actual RPM.
When I lightly tap the face of the cluster, the needle returns to normal operation.
More of an annoyance for me however, it’s enough to make my eye twitch out of frustration.

Bump! Any update? I'll be pulling my speedometer this week for light bulb replacement.
I'm tired of the tach working wrong.

Are you providing this service? If so how much? Mine is getting worse the more I drive it.

I've got another one on the way. If it works, yes, I'll provide the service.

Yes, I can fix the tach. Will need the entire instrument cluster.
PM me for details.
