Hey guys, i just got my marauder (long awaited) but im not sure if my air suspension is working right, is doesn't seem to really do anything, i don't notice a difference with it on or off. How can i be sure its working? I mean this is my time even seeing one in person anything i know is from being obsessed with looking the car up online. so i'm not not really familiar with air ride systems yet can any one tell me how i can see if my air ride is working properly if at all.

thanks

Does the rear of the car rise up?

Do you hear the air compressor under the hood at the left front?

Just sit in with one foot on the ground and it should start to rise. You'll definitely feel and hear it working.

If the car is drivable the air suspension is most likely working. If it's not the rear will sag to the ground and it will drive like a buckboard.

Like FBM said when you start the car listen for a buzzing sound from the drivers side under the hood. That will be the air pump running. As a side note drill some holes under the pump, which is under the air cleaner, to drain water out and it will extend the life of the pump.

Like Mr. Man said, if it wasn't working, you'd know it for sure.

Go gather up you buddies. Load them up, biggest in the back, go for a drive to your local watering hole. Get out first then have them get out and look at how high the car is sitting before the last door is shut, and then watch it lower when they close the door.

If this system works anything like my LSC 4 wheel air ride, even with it off, eventually it will drop as mine did when I forgot to turn it back on...

May sound like a dumb suggestion, but are you sure the system is on? There's a switch in the trunk that may have been bumped or turned off (if you've recently had any service done on the car that required lifting it).

If the system is turned off via the trunk switch, it will light the "AIR SUSP" light in the instrument cluster...

yeah it seems like air ride isn't even there. it just drives normal. its the same with or with out the switch on. where is the pump?

How is the ride......HARSH or SMOOOOOOTH??

If the air suspension is not functioning the rear will eventually leak down and the rear axle will support the car on the over travel bumpers and it will beat you unmercifully!!!

Test it by loading 100# in the trunk and drive around a bit.......when you stop open trunk and remove weight!!! Rear should rise when you remove weight and the system will then "exhale" returning the rear to the proper ride height!! You should see the rear of the car fall fairly quickly!!

Give it a whirl!!:D

Are you sure you have air bags in the rear? A lot of people especially if they've had problems with it will just swap out the air bags for springs and pull the fuse for the pump. When I bought mine this was the case. Have a good look under the rear of the car. If all you see are shocks and springs then you have no air suspension. I wanted mine returned to air and found a manufacturer called Sun. I bought a whole system (pump, airlines, tees. solenoids, and bags) for just over $300. It was a screamin deal.

Good point. Might have a spring swap but I would think the person who did it would have disabled the idiot light somehow. My guess is that his car has a very slow bleed rate on the airbags.

As long as the car rides smooth I'd make sure the switch in the trunk is ON and forget about it.
