What is the best brand to do with for this? I want the best quality, even if it's another $15. I really need to change my o-ring gaskets for my spark plugs, but was told the valve cover gaskets will need to be replaced if I remove the covers.
Thanks in advance?
BTW what causes the o-rings to go bad? Anything besides heat?

I re-used my gaskets for both the covers and the plugs when I had it apart (50k miles only). I think a lot of people re-use them but if your plug gaskets are bad then maybe the covers are bad too.. they were both made of the same type of rubber if I remember correctly. I don't know for sure but I would think heat cycles/milage would be the leading cause of gasket failure; the rubber gets hard and cracks. As for quality of new ones I would go right to Ford for those. Good luck!

I've used a Mr Gasket set when I did my cover swap and for some reason the rubber strip they gave me was too long and didn't sit right. I would suggest either a Fel-pro set which I'm using now and had all the included rubbers you would need for the plug holes or go to the dealer and use the ford gasket set. Either way they will likely cost the same.
Use a little silicone on the rubber grommets under the cover to hold them in place and a dab of silicone on the head where it meets the timing cover. No silicone is need inside the cam cover, the rubber strip is designed to seal without it.

What he said. ^^^^^
We used OEM when Russ did my cam covers, the silicone is a must.

I got a felpro set, and the cam cover Gaskets were way to short and I ended up gluing them on. I'll be looking for an alternative when it goes back together this time

I used Fel-Pro; came with all the grommets for the spark plugs, cheap and done right.

Out of two Felpro sets in the last month.
Set 1:
Orange cam cover gasket on bank one, grey on bank two???
Set 2:
Both blue now? Bank 1 very slim and didn't want too stay in place very well.
So who knows what you will get. It's kind of like a pot luck picnic..
