starter?

hey all, just went to move my marauder and turned the key over to start--it made no action at first then started normally but made a noise sort of familiar to a dragging started, so I shut the car off and went to start again. Same thing, a short no reaction as if I didn't turn the key and then varoommmm--shingggg. Any ideas if it is probably the starter?

probably...how old is the battery? run it down it down to the parts store, they can load test the battery in the parking lot and go from there

to be honest I am not sure how old the battery is. My car is an o3 with 146k on it, 3rd owner. It starts ok just this funny noise and silly no reaction thing that is confusing me. I will take your advise on checking that on the batt. though, thank's.

Sounds like the battery is bad or the connections are loose or dirty.
