Just ordered 2 new Ford hood struts as the presents ones no longer hold up the hood. Any tricks to swapping them out? They look like they snap on/off. Are there any hidden bolts or screws. Any special tools needed?

I'm pretty sure there is a tab that you pry out with a flathead screwdriver on each end of the support.

Hey Eric! It's just a ball and socket with a locking clip and bolts up top. These should help, courtesy of MuscleMerc:

^Yep, just do one at a time or have someone help hold the hood.

Use a broom stick or something similar to hold up the hood while doing this.
Change them one at a time
I put a dab of synthetic grease in each socket before I install them.

does the crown vic use these as well? i think i'd rather switch over to a broom stick type. the cold doesn't seem to be agreeing with the stock type on the fiberglass hood :/ it's has a couple spots it appears where the stress point is (just to the front of where the stock ones mount)

CV & GM will be the same as the hoods are interchangeable.
What is the "broom stick type"?

I used "strong arm" brand as they have a lifetime warranty.
The strong arms went out after a couple of years and I took them back to Napa and got another set for free.
Not sure if the lifetime warranty still stands. Might want to check before you buy this brand.

I though you were never susposed to open Marauder hoods. Sealed from the factory.
I need a set on Black. Lifted the hood yesterday and felt a heavy weight crashing into the back of my head. Thought it was the wife.
