It's on the frame rail, in front of the right rear wheel.
The fuel filter is on the inside of the frame about where the passenger side rear door is. Easily accessable.
It does take a special tool to unsnap the lines.
Be careful, can ruin your day. Tool and filter sold at most auto parts stores.
Don't know what's up with O'Reilly.

What he said. And some of us run a larger filter.

Yoy can do it with a flat screwdriver, just use common sense not to snap the plastic clips. Ive done it twice now with no issues.

It won't hurt.
I used the larger filter, bent the existing bracket to fit and used a stainless steel hose clamp to hold the filter in the bracket.

DO NOT USE A SCREW DRIVER!!!:shake:
I did that for several years and was very lucky......for awhile until I broke one of the little buggers!!!:bigcry:
Found out all ya have to do is push the clip further "IN" and it releases the line.......I was pullin' the damn thing OUT....duh!!!:mad2:
Give it a whirl......it's VERY easy!!;)

Yep, it's counter intuitive.

I had to reuse the old clips cause the new ones did not fit for some reason, and yes I used a flat head screw driver to get the clips off with no problem.

I didnt know that you could push them in, as many people here obviously didn't either. Ill give it a whirl next time, but if it doesnt work...back to the old trusty rusty screwdriver. :P

No biggy if you break the clips, just don't loose the halves, and have small zip ties or small hose clamps handy. Put them back in position and wrap the tie or clamp around.

Yes, after breaking one & replacing it I found it is not the normal Ford "remove clip & slide line off" set up.
It is a special set up (maybe MM only? Have not seen on any other Ford product). Instead of pulling the clip off you press it in further. Acts like a spring release & spreads the retaining edge of clip away from the metal lip on the filter tube then slide the line off the filter.
Stupid simple! I was pissed at myself for making the job a hundred times harder than needed!

These little clips were $3.00 each from the dealer only for YEARS plus they were not a stocking item!!:mad2:
Now I think you can find them much cheaper but using them the right way will make 'em last indefinitely!!

Go to your local NAPA Auto parts store.
Ask for part number FILNCK11.
Pay less than $10.00 for 10 clips. I think it's actually $7.99 + tax.
Use new clips every time you change a filter. Will last you 5 years IF you change the filter once a year.
IMHO.... cheap insurance. I'd rather spend less than $10.00 then take a chance on some broken worn out clips letting loose and the MM catching on fire or dumping that $4.00 a gallon gas on the ground.

This.
For some reason, some after market fuel filters still come with the old style Ford Clips that don't fit. I run it to it too often everyday. If you broke one there should be plenty of auto parts places stocking them. Dorman's "Help" product line has them cheap. Similar to the NAPA product FastBlackMerc just listed.

You can also get a Kinsler turbo blue filter with braided stainless lines that is good upgrade. Filter is the size of a pepsi can, no clips at all. I also added an in line fitch fuel catalyst. Had to drill and tap frame as it was so big.
