Well, it was going to be...

I decided against the T56 in favor of the much stronger TR6060 and twin disc w/hydraulic TOB.

I started this a few weeks back with no real guidance, but a vision to see it through.

MANY thanks to everyone involved because I literally pulled out all my aces on this as time was a serious crunch to hit my dyno app. all the while of piggy backing another build to be dynoed on the same day. The last night I went to bed at 5:50 AM for a 40 min. nap just to wake up and hit the road for an hour and a half trip to Mr. Norms with both cars only ever getting a 20 minute test drive the night before. Poor Brandon (lowbuckMM) worked all day and made it 4:30 AM before he crashed on my couch for the SECOND night in a row! Joe (Guspech750) literally lived in my garage coming and going whether I was there or not! I think both of these guys actually still like doing this crap?:shake: Zack for his unbelievable phone support and shipping his pulley remover and rear head cooling kit so fast you'd think he turbo'd the damn mail truck. Casey (CBT) for next day airing his own parts he has been collecting to help me out! But MOST importantly my wife Melanie for understanding the need for speed and what it takes to get there!!! I know there were more and I am am very sorry if I left you out!! I can edit...

I SCORED an 1800 mile trans, disc set, pressure plate, flywheel, shifter, brake booster, and master cylinder from a 2012 GT500 for $1000.00 SHIPPED. < My biggest motivator..

I also bought the following from many different vendors, and or private sellers. New custom Telescoping Cromoly Driveshaft (trans has a fixed yoke like our rear ends), Misc. steel for the cross member, factory, Ford Racing, and ARP bolts, bolts, and more bolts, shifter handle extension, boot and handle, and about $100 in misc little ACE hardware crap for the pedals, a fox body pedal set, and a '07 Shelby set.

The engine was a 3500 mile Cobra short block I bought off Motorhead350 a good while back. I had a valve job done on my heads along with Crower stage 2 blower cams, Manley intake valves and +1 oversized exhaust valves, retainers, keepers, and seals, and Brian Tooley Racing valve springs < you NEED to do business with Brian, he is what customer service in most vendors need to learn from!

The Driveshaft was the easiest to get out of anything! Local, same day, damn near bomb proof, and CHEAP! Spicer 1350 yoke/u joints, and built to my exact specs from Midwest Driveshaft.

Speedo was a simple new pigtail and calibrated on the dyno. Phone app reveals it is dead on at 30 but is still off about 4.5 MPH at 70.

Everything was a simple bolt on mechanically speaking. I was determined from the beginning to keep my output shaft at the closest possible elevation as the 4r70 to rule out driveline vibrations. I ended up 3/16" lower, I can live with that.;)

So that definitely ruled out using the stock cross member, so out with the welder. I had to use metal that would fit between the trans and the mount and that equaled exactly 1" of space. I went to my metal supplier and found the perfect material, 3/4" X 1 1/2" rectangular tubing. Knowing that wouldn't be enough, I opted for a split rail design with center supports. I used the inboard cross member holes and shot up 30* immediately to accommodate any exhaust system I would ever want in the future. Hopefully the very near future. I built in an 1/8" rise in the center for deflection, but the point was mute. there was NO giving to this cross member!:D I also relocated the OEM parking brake cable, mounted upside down, and trimmed here and there to the cross member perch. Works perfect. As now I have to use it!

RPMS are awesome with the 4.30's!!! This thing HURTS you at any gear and purrs at 2050 RPMS at 80!!! Only 1550 at 60!

The dyno was at Mr. Norms and was way not right. Thanks to taking advice from some I ended up not degreeing the cams, plus to be fare I flat out ran out of time. Tim Barth shook his head and said some Blower cams will not only make much, but have the possibility of robbing power if not degreed.... This ended up in a cylinder imbalance of 12% from bank to bank. BUT, I ended up with a nice NASTY idle at least.

A little embarrassed at the results here, so please keep in mind even the tuner Tim Barth knows his dyno reads on average 11% lower than the next tuners and I don't care what it says, I know this car, and I know it came out with shocking results! Anyways 446/477... 19#'s boost at 18 degrees timing, tuned at 11.6 AFR. Most of the problem was the belt slip. How about 420 RWTQ at only 2500 RPMS? :D But a drop off at only 4500 rpms thanks to boost dropping to 15.:shake:

So, I am basically way ahead of the game on fuel now.. I installed a Aeromotive 340 pump and -8 line up to the front for no reason.

I'll look into it later. maybe. It feels great as is for now, maybe degree the cams when I go Whipple. I am curious what she would have pulled without the slip.

I still have a few tiny easy details to finish like wiring the back up light, reverse lock out, and neutral safety pigtails, reinstall the wiper cowl, and figure out what happened last night on the way home from the movies when the AFR went ballistic and I lost vacuum. So far, I see the blower bypass rod nut walked off and was laying on the manifold. HOPEFULLY that is all... To be continued, too tired to care right now.

I got to ride in this beast Saturday night and holy ****nit this thing frickin moves. The sound is frickin incredible, head displacement is strong and the smiles are big.

For someone who has been away from their Marauder for the better part of two months, I desperately needed a romp and as always, Bob delivers.

Yet once again, I get the feeling this will cost me more money as now I need to go faster.

? Its no secret, even Tim says so but doesn't know why? He has some of the best calibrating equipment he says. BTW, AVERAGE high of 11% Go to the track Tom.

Amazing. Would you comment on any computer issues with removing the automatic?

We could not get the car out of closed loop any where near WOT. After trying many things it was decided the auto functions had to stay on causing a flashing OD till I remove it. This remedied the issue.

If my mathology is correct, factoring in 11% of what you dyno'd would put you just over 495. BAM!

A Dyno is merely a measurement on a scale. Different Dyno models use different scales. SAE is an example of a factor that affects the scale.
When DynoJet was developing their system they could not get it to read actual HP through out the scale. They gave up and used an arbitrary factor.
So long as you are comparing them same model DynoJet to Dynojet it does not matter for it is the same scale.
From a previous post;
"Mustang Dynamometers are unique. All Mustang Dynamometers are loading dynamometers designed to duplicate real world operating conditions. Our patented control system uses eddy current power absorbers to load a vehicle exactly the way it would be loaded on the street...."

"Q:
We ran a test for my car at 3500lbs, which is the approximate weight of the vehicle with me in it + 1/2 a tank of gas. Should we have used the curb weight instead?

A:
The weight entered should equal the weight of the car as you wish it to be simulated, it's that simple. Curb weight is used only when there is absolutely no info on the car. In some cases you may want to add a driver weight, fuel, etc. to the curb weight for better accuracy. Its up to you."
http://www.mustangdyne.com/portable.htm

DynoJet
"This Model 224xLC can perform load tests including step, sweep and loaded roll-on. Closed loop load testing is also available by targeting engine RPM, speed or percentage of load. A simple click of the mouse or keyboard can turn the 224xlc from an eddy current dynamometer back into an inertia only dynamometer or vice versa. The torque cell calibration routine takes less than a minute to perform."
http://www.dynojet.com/automotive_dyno/default.aspx"

"Typically, people tend to look at a dyno numbers as they do an time slip from a race track. That's not what it does, here's a link to a primer on all the styles. It's got a lot of pages, but the real 411 is easy to extract.

http://www.mustangdyne.com/ChassisDy...ng-article.htm

I agree, the DynoJet is the accepted industry standard. It operates on measuring the movement of a 3400 pound drum, or roller if you will, and the computer does the rest. It's best feature is it's popularity. The machines are precisely built and carefully installed, with the latest in refinements in AFR measurment and user training. It's also available in a trailer mounted portable version for trucking to meets. Some might say if it's not a DynoJet, it's not a dyno. That's up to you.

I don't think it's the most accurate test available, but it's close enough for what you need to learn about your particular car. Like running the quarter mile, no car will produce duplicate figures in back to back pulls. But, the differences will be minor, I would suggest you do three pulls and average your numbers. Again, it's the machine of choice and I think because of it's reliability. As a diagnostic tool, a DynoJet in Dallas will give you the same 411 as one in Chicago. It is S.A.E. corrected.

The eddy current style is probably the oldest technology in use today, and is marketed by Mustang. Here is where I have to disagree with Warpath. My first dyno experience on the MM was a Mustang, and it reported 363 RWHP, and 1336.6 RWTQ (remember, that thre pulls averaged). Oh really...From just 4:10s and a chip? I cannot support the Mustang because of it's lack of S.A.E. correction and AFR data. It does not S.A.E. correct, and your 411 is useless.

Both the Mustang and DynoJet take measurements from rollers or drums, and IMHO, tires, suspension, and stretching tie down straps have a lot to do with skewing the facts. I prefer the DynaPack 5000 dyno, which is probably in the "water brake" style mentioned above, though in more "up to date" technology.

The DynaPack removes the question of tires, suspension and tie down stretch from the measuring by side-stepping these distractors. The DynaPack attaches directly to the powered axles, you can read up more here, and there are pics in the photo section.

http://www.grdperformance.com/dyno.aspx

I've had a dozen or more dynos on my first MM while building her, all of them on the Dynapack 5000 and it performed quite consistently. I was able to duplicate pulls and not have to average my data. In fact, I was able to come back the next day and get data within 1.0 of the day before. My max power came in at 275.4 RWHP and 301.6 RWTQ.

I had one more dyno test after this, on a DynoJet for my Team Ford power tune. Before the tune, my numbers dropped to 261.1 RWHP and 283.2 RWTQ. That a significant difference between the DynoJet and DynaPack and it serves to show what loss can occur from tires, suspension and tie-down straps. After my tune, the numbers came back to 271.7 RWHP and 293.7 RWTQ.

In light of how well my MM performed, I wasn't disappointed by lower numbers, they are just numbers. The real 411 is in the graphs and charts. At 1900 RPM into the pull, I was pushing 233 pounds of torque to the ground. By 2500 RPM, torque rose to 275 pounds. That is one azz kicking hole shot for a 4200 pound beast, eh?

That's what you need to know from a dyno test and why it's a great diagnostic tool, and not a high performance poker game.

Just my .02c, from my personal experience." SergntMac

Tom, if you are this hung up on numbers, please start your own thread. Like I said, I could give a hoot about that, and real numbers happen at the track.

I'm not hung up on it at all. I just wanted to know what was going on and tried to clear it up.

Sorry if I offended you.

You didn't offend me, I just want this to remain on course. I think I also found out why I dynoed so low. The mishap I had Sat night, I jumped time. 😒 Tearing it apart tomorrow to see what happened. One step forward three steps back. Disappearing back to the garage for awhile..

Just thought I'd share she was brought back to life yesterday and already put 200 fun miles on her. All eight reoccurring transmission codes have been wiped out in the tune, flashing OD bulb removed and literally can not tell it ever was an automatic car.

Thanks Joe.

With the AODE gone, is it possible to switch out the Marauder ECU with one from a Cobra to solve this?

I think you would be in for a lot more work? You could start by comparing all the pin outs on both, then making the call. I modified the trans harness only incase I ever wanted to go back to auto. Simple plug and play with a new trans harness that way, even though the wiring was so easy, it wasn't even worth mentioning.
