Anyone moved their oil filter on a N/A? Is this a PITA and worht the trouble???
Why would you want to move your oil filter?
And the oil filter is in the same place N/A or S/C!

Don't like where it is. Gets alittle messy even when the car hasn't ran. Been thinking of doing a relocation on my Mark V and adding another filter. I've seen the double filter adapter, but it's been awhile. Got used to my Fleetwoods filter that was a straight shot with no mess.

Kinda figured since there was some moving around of stuff under the hood the S/C boys would move it before us non S/C boys. :)

I have the MMR remote mount race relocation kit with braided lines and it uses the big filter, i like it because you can mount the filter upright (vertical) and not spill oil all over the K member when you change your oil.

My main reason for wanting to do this. Thanks for the link...

I have to admit, I like the old school style on this kit (http://www.mooneyesusa.com/shop/product.php?cPath=188_236&products_id=1793).

Yeah that is nice for sure, I was hoping to keep the price as low as possible though...

I hate where its mounted too, but i dont care to move it. A screwdriver through the side works until it rips through the case...i swear some shops put on the filter with an impact gun.

Remoted, do yourself a favor, don't go cheap, you will regret it.

The farther away from the Filter Adapter the more oil pressure you will lose!!
Mine was 4 feet away and I lost 25 PSI at 3000 RPM's.....5 PSI at idle!!:shake:
How often do you change the filter.....if only a few times a year I'd leave it where it is!!

I moved mine to the inner frame rail below the suspension compressor.
To make room, I dremel'd off the welded frame lift bracket that they use to move the chassis down the assembly line.
I'll try to take a few pictures of my set up and post them for you.
It's sooooo easy to change the oil filter and it is a 'vertical' installation, so no oil dumping everywhere when you spin the filter off.....

I change it every 3000 miles, so as of the miles I've put on it since I've bought it, looks like it's going to be changed at least 4 times a year.

If this happens what would I have to do to remedy the loss??

Summit. SS braided hoses. Actual job is simple, figuring out where to locate it will be toughest challenge to me.
GM S series Blazer & p/u with 4.3 has factory remote filter. A rare moment of thinking for the design endineers!
I want to be able to pull filter with out lubing the rack & crossmember. Yuk... :mad2:

If you engineer the hoses correctly this won't be an issue. The fitting ID's have to be larger than the engine adapter orfice ID's. This way the parasitic drag in the hoses will not reduce pressure. Simple fluid dynamics. Also, see about increasing the remote adapter plate orfice ID's if needed. I have a lot of work to do on the Mod yet. Will post when I do.

The FL1A filter doesn't have the anti drain valve does it?
Joe Walsh
03-27-2013, 04:47 PM
I don't think the FL1A does...( I know the FL400 for my Ranger does have one) but who needs an anti-drainback valve when it is mounted vertical.

Exactly! it doesent matter when mounted vertically!

Holy Crap man, switch to Amsoil Signature and their top of the line filter, then change it once every 25000 miles.
I have done this with my DDs for 20+ years
Many vehicles with over 250K on the clock with NO oil related issues.
Also NAPA sells a moldable funnel from PIG. Put it under the filter, loosen it and let ti drain on the funnel. It drains right into your drain pan.
When it's empty, change it. Done deal.

Mark,
The only thing you can do is use larger line and fittings and mount it as close to the adapter as possible using shorter lines to get to it!!
Actually there is no danger in lower pressure as 100 PSI cold is pretty high to me and I never saw less than 50 PSI at 2500 to 3000 RPM's the whole time I had it on but when I removed it I was shocked to see such a pressure improvement!!
Good Luck!!

My thoughts exactly.
I will stick to my mess and not have a rock puncture my filter and blow the engine.
Cool concept though.
