View Full Version : NITROUS on a stock MM.......FEEDBACK?

Ok, here it is, and I realize people are from different schools here, BUT.....I have a Supercharged Mustang and a Turbocharged/Intercooled Grand National and my MM is my daily driver and a company car, per se so I was thinking about NITROUS.

Nothing crazy like a 100hp shot. Something manageable for this motor.... And I need to keep it somewhat stock. I am hoping that a chip/program change and a smaller shot would work for me. I'd like the set up to be for the most part easily removed and what can't be removed hidden so if I have to visit the dealer I can do the Clark Kent. I've seen some systems that tap into the plastic intake feed and I can keep a spare one to swap out then but don't know anything about nitrous myself. I'm ok with the bottle filling costs vs the $8k plus coin out of my pocket that I'd be spending on a company car, if you get my drift.

So if anyone has any idea's or any feedback, even negative about this, please post I'm interested on hearing it.

There are those on this site that would say that our engines are not made for that kind of stress. although if you want to start upgrades , start with a Dennis Reinhart Stage-1 system which is chip or microtuner , 180 stat , Denso plugs , 4.10 Ford Racing Gears and to top it off , a set of underdrive pulleys... :burnout:

Thanks ADELG670, I am very familiar with those upgrades. But I really don't (stress DON'T) want to go that way. I've done that and more with my 'stang and am in the middle of a 331 dart block building for it but.............for this car, it's a company car, I'd just like to hit a buttom once in a while, otherwise this car has pleanty as an every day driver. So I just want to keep it easy and simple.

.......and I'd be really surprised if this block can't take at least 50 HP shot.

ADELG670 YOU STILL GOING TO HOOTERS SUNDAY?

Well just looking for info, none about the Marauders on their site. I'd do it myself, I can't go to Alabama to have the car worked on............... :coolman:

Thanks for the encouragement, lol.

Though I'd like just a bit of tech and real life experience feed back from anyone that's juiced their MM, gotta love a " just do it" comment, lol.

Guys, come on, lol. Yeah thanks, I know who/where they are. I was being facetious with my comment, really, lol.
I'm in New York and can/will install it myself and if I can't I'm sure there's someone closer then MI or AL, lol.
What I'm really looking for is to hear from anyone that's installed/going to/would never Nitrous on their MM and pro's and con's of the install.........

you could get the Zek system, spay's into the intake tube, and get the reinhart special on the micro tuner and reset your settings, might want to install an air/fuel guage to make sure your on target... it's all pretty easy, i've been considering it as well... for $600 or so, could probably easily get it all done yourself.

a 50 or 75 shot can't hurt in my opinion, as long as it's not too lean, and your stock fuel pump should be fine at that level.. i think i'm talking myself into it more and more.

this is not an educated opinion, just a "gut feel"

PhkinQK,

Wait a little bit. Dennis R. has a complete ZEX system that he is going to test and make available to us.
He has to finish up on a current project first.
I think the Z system looks very, very good and may try it on my MM but I want to wait until Dennis has it set up first so all the in's and out's are covered.
ie. it will need a special chip etc. and install pics. A complete kit!

You may want to call Dennis for timing.

Warren of course I'll wait. The possibility of a Dennis approved nitrous system is worth the wait. As far as trusting him with my car, his name is gold in my book.......I look forward to that and will check his site.

If I was closer to him I'd be a welcome guinea pig, if you know him tell him I'm very interested, no BS...............Rob.

Oh and thanks for the info Warren........

Merc406, I tried the plate on my Stang in NY but they turned it down and when I called and asked why the girl said cause PH and F make the same sound, I'm sure you didn't realize that sir, lol. Oh well, she was too smart for me, but maybe it'll get past your state. As you so eloquently said to me...........GO FOR IT, lol.
