My wife and I are having a difference of opinion. I think a thin pin stripe on the DTR would look good and make the car more streamlined. She says no new cars have them now because they are old fashioned and will spoil the car. I told her I would ask you guys and gals what you think and thats what we will do. Ok--I am open to your thoughts:help:

Sorry, I think she's right. But, you know what??-It's your car and should reflect your tastes. I like the "stealth approach" with no external identifiers. Cruzer takes an another view and has decals, emblems etc... on his. He's won shows- I haven't...maybe he's on to something...:D

I agree with your wife on this one. Pinstripes are for Grand Marquis', not MM's. Of course it is my opinion and it's your car. If you like the stripes, that's all that matters.

The dealer I bought my MM from had put a silver/white pinstripe down the side of my car and I made them take it off before I took delivery. I don't want to change anything on the body of the car that would make it look "not original", but that is my opinion, anything that you do/don't do to your MM is what makes it truely your personal MM.
Do whatever you want to do. It's your car.

Just kidding, I respect all your opinions and here is mine. I have red and blue pinstrips on mine and I think they look great, Ill go take some pictures and post them later on. They "set the car off" as I have been told by more than one person here in fabulous las vegas, but it is a matter of personal tastes, I think the pictures will really help you decide. Stay tuned sports fans.

Not a big fan if "pin" stripes, but I love the Shelby look. I'd love to have two big, bad Shelby stripes running tip to toe, in flat black. I think this would look very trick.

Where? On the hood, roof and deck lid or the sides at the bottoms?
For a long time I have been thinking about some thin red pinstripes on my black car. The red against black wouldn't be too showy, and the red would blend well with the taillights and red bumper inserts. From any distance they wouldn't show up at all, but up close I think they would look nice, yet not too bling bling.

I also feel the same as carfixer, it just wouldn't look like a Marauder, or look to wimpy. :banned: That's only my opinion, Thanks.

If I were stuck!! with a Black or Silver MM, it would absolutely have some pinstripes, or even some tasteful 'ribbons'.
I think the Blue and Red MM's look very nice without.
Maybe some inspiration could be found in Sport Magazine or Street Rodder mag.

True its all about personal taste.
On the black cars a light gray/brushed chrome pin strip in the lower side body molding really sets the car off.
I think the brushed chrome strip would sharp on the DTR.

I had painted on pin strip's on a few cars and they did look nice, but to put it on a Marauder would take something away from the Bold look of the car at least that's what some of us agree on, but remember it's your car and you have to do what makes you happy, maybe their is another way you can accent your car with out the side strip's, call up or visit a professional Pinstripe or graffic's person and ask for some idea's,then think on it a little before your do anything.

Mine had a gray pinstripe going down the side when I purchased my MM. I told the dealer to remove it when I picked it up. I also told them to remove their dealer sticker on the trunk.

You know, this is a tough call. If you took a poll it would be close, but likely 'NO STRIPE' would win.
I battled with this decision myself. And for the small amount of money it costs to hit a parts store and pick out a roll, it's worth the test. This install is far easier than one might imagine, and easily removed. I can do MM in 10-15 minutes.
I tried several styles when I first did it. I peeled them all back off over the course of several weeks until I found what made ME comfortable, as I have always liked pin stripes to accent body panels and rolls.
I ended up with the application of a two stripe style, one stripe being 1/8th inch, and the other 1/16th inch. I installed the stripe set, and then peeled the fatter 1/8th inch stripe off and pitched it.
Now I have an extremely narrow single stripe, and I personally like it alot.
This is the best pic I have, and even here it is difficult to see, kinda blends....just what I wanted!

Barry if pin strip is "painted" on correctly it can be "buffed" off with no problem:)

I'm still trying get my hands on those 1970's "Superfly" whitewalls.
On a serious note though, I saw a Black M/M with white pinstripes. It was
very subtle and did'nt look bad. Just don't get carried away an do a "Starsky and Hutch" on us.

Right click on the pic, get properties, get url. Copy url, paste url in your post and surround the url with the correct vbcode. In this case = [i]your url to pic[/img.] Just drop the periods I used for the example.

Not necessarily in the order of importance:
1) It's your car. Do what you want.
2) You have to live with her (the wife, not the MM).
