I want to upgrade my brakes to the cobra brake setup with larger rotors and all. What year will work with minimum modifications. I searched this before posting also. Thanks in advance

There used to be a thread on this on ChicagoSVT which is now part of The Chicago Garage forum.

Might be a thread on Motor City Marauders too.

Or ask Zack. He did it to his Marauder with Mach1 brakes.

If it is like a Mustang you need the rear brackets that bolt to the rear end, anti-moan brackets, and rear rotors. These are all included in Ford Racing kit M-2300-M .The calipers are the same. In the front you need calipers and rotors. The dust shields are different too I think, but I am not positive.

Zack mentioned to me recently that GT500 brakes may be an option as well, gonna find out more and will report back.

Good deal. Thanks. I just want to do the front as the factory rotors just look too small behind the 18" wheels

Might be cheaper and less work to get TCE's brake upgrade.... 6 piston Wilwoods up front.

I have a Baer set up on the front and like it, not sure if it is still available and I don't
think they had anything for the rear. Looks great though.

I like that setup just not wanting to spend that much money. This is mainly a upgrade for looks.

Considering the Factory Brakes are about the same beef as 94-04 Cobra/Mach/Bullitt brakes there wouldn't be much of an improvement over stock. I have a 94-95 Kit on my Fox and it works great but even in our 03' Cobra they don't have enough bite. I can't see them working well on a 4400lb car.

TCE/Wilwood or stay stock. Anything in between buys you very little.

I read somewhere a while back that the cobra breaks fit and work well... until the rotors break because you're now using them to stop a car thats 1100 lbs heaver than the car they were designed to stop.

Exactly. They don't even work that great on 3800lb cars.

If you wanted to do a swap go Baer, Wilwood or GT500's

Pretty much.

If you want looks then paint your caliper and get some fancy slotted or drilled rotors.

I have new slotted and dimpled rotors. Painted the calipers black, but the rotor is just so small. I can't budget in wildwood or baer brakes at this time. I not too long ago installed a set of aerospace brakes on my mustang

I run stock brakes with Hawk HPS pads. They work great for the aggressive driving I do but Id upgrade to something with a larger rotor/6-piston caliper if you plan on racing.

Substitute a piza pan for the dust cover. It covers up the suspension parts and gives the illusion of a larger disk.
Gets a lot of compliments.

The stock MM fronts are basically Cobra dual piston brakes with a 12 inch rotor instead of 13. Like someone said earlier, it's basically cobra brakes already. And actually I think they work pretty well - I have certainly driven cars with much less braking than a stock MM provides. So a 13 inch rotor will give you better performance, but it wouldn't be much.
