A customer of mine traded his Impala SS in on a 2004 DTR Marauder. Monday this week he and his wife brought it home, passing me on the street, and today I saw it again with her at the wheel.
This is an older couple, retired. His SS Impala was immaculate, as I recall. He also has a BMW motorcycle. I couldn't imagine his wife driving the MM, but apparently she's taken a real shine to it.
I have to admit, seeing the DTR out in the wild, it is a beauty. Oh, and the weather has been very nice the past few days, so the sun roof must be great.
If I had the money, I'd keep my black 2003 stock for an everyday driver, but buy a new 2004 DTR and have it modded by Kenny Brown or Dennis R. Something just for fun. (getting a far away look in eyes......)

I never thought I would like the DTR MM color, but I stopped off at the local Southern Atlanta L-M dealer this week to try and pick-up the rare 2004 MM brochure - ever see one! "No brochures - only got a few sent to us." In the show room was a beautiful DTR MM with the LFLI. The car definitely looks better up close and in person. But, I got my 2004 MM brochures today. My son went to the Atlanta Auto Show and pick-up several nearby the - yes, a DTR MM at the show. He of course had to stop by several times to see the DTR MM and review a fresh brochure. I can't wait for him to get home so I can compare the 2003/04 brochures to see if anything is advertised as significantly different. (By the way, I like my black painted valve covers better.)

I would love to have both too!

I bought mine sight unseen. I saw it listed on the dealer's website and was able to make the deal. But I didn't see it until the day I picked it up. It was still being prepped when I made the deal. No regrets. The only thing that I have noticed is (at least to my eyes) that it looks redder in pictures than when you are looking at the real thing. By the way, thanks to Cruzer for letting me know the dealer was expecting the DTR.

I dunno... those crazy DTR MM's just might be the best selling color after black when this is all done.

Color is DEFINETELY a personal preference. I must live in Marauder central. Here in the Detroit area, I've seen all the colors out on the street. I've seen some mighty fine looking cars :) For me, though, this car was meant to be Black. I fell in love with mine the day I saw it on the lot. I traded in my SHO, right then and there on a whim, and I still smile each time I look out in the driveway. Mine is a daily driver. I've racked up 30k in the year that I've owned it. It's had it's share of troubles, too. I've had a rear pinion failure and a complete transmission failure, but JEEZ this thing is one beautiful car, all black and menacing, and I wouldn't want any other color than the one that I chose.
This car is a keeper, no matter how many miles I put on it. I love it!

It was an easy choice for anybody in Canada who wanted an '03, they only came in Black!
For 2004 ,I believe that Silver is available as I saw on one a dealer's lot last week.Looks like we might not ever get DTR up here !

I don't know that I would have wanted to wait for it, but had they had DTR available when I bought mine (June of '02) I would probably have gone for it. I love black, don't get me wrong, but the DTR is pretty damn sexy!

Hi Gang ...........I have owned many black cars since I started driving back in the early 60's . Love to keep them clean and NICE . When I saw the first black MM , I knew that was the correct color for the car . I do agree that it is a personel preference ..........but I have a 1999 Marquis , and its silver ( the wife wanted that color ) , and it seems that any color other than black , the MM will sort of blend in with the other Marquis cars .......just my thoughts . ...............SPEED SAFELY ! ...........Dave

The silver does look SHARP!
But as an old "gezzer" (my age 65)
I needed BLACK, so I didn't look
like the rest of the "blue hairs" who
drive their Grand Marquis around here
in Florida.
Gotta Love It! :beatnik:
