I've searched all the threads as best I can, without difiniative differentiation.

KYB or Monroe Severe Duty??? WHY???

Need to get (rear first) mine done ASAP.

DATA SET- YES Air system was checked out at Ford Dealer and appears fine - motor doesn't run often or hardly at all (only heard it once for 5 seconds or so in 600 miles--and that was after parking on steep hill overnight). Back left corner feels a little "fluttery and /or unsettled" after freeway bumps or left wheels up/down extension -- left rear seems to bounce/flex an extra time and bounce "more" than the other corners. Can be felt as "different" when entering a dealership where the street gutter rise is a hard 1.5inch.. all opther corner are "crisp" yet the left rear seems softer/bouncier [YES... I know ... lame descriptive lingo--but wanted to save questions and share data set]

KYB or Monroe Severe Duty? Or is there another?

PLEASE ADVISE - Looking for advice from those who've been here before me?

THANK YOU

You really can't go wrong with either one for domestic applications. I use Monroe on almost all vehicles now, unless KYB is the OE and only option. My MM had monroe's installed on it when I bought it, so I was happy.
edit: It won't be long before I replace my rear air springs though. The pump runs 1 to 2 times per day when I commute to and from work.

We sell Monroe to our customers and have great success. I replaced my personal car's rear shocks with the Monroe's...painted them black though! I have no complaints.

+1. Running Monroe Severe Service on my car as well, and am pleased with their performance.

Oh, and BTW, Chris, I left mine bright yellow... ;)

Ive seen alot of members who run Monroes & are very happy. Myself I got KYB's, my frt springs have 1 coil cut & I can say this compared to my 1st 2 MM's w/cut springs\oem shocks the ride is excellent. With OE's less 1 coil the ride was harsh to say the least. With KYB's & cut coils the ride feels very, very close to how it was with OE shocks & No cut springs.

I've moved some of my parts off my MM to my '06 GM.
front & rear sway bars..........& I just replaced my rear springs (it did not have an airsystem) I bought the springs from strutmasters.com (these were created for airsystem replacement and contracted with Eibach specifically for this)
I paired these with KYB's all around.......very pleased with ride......its not the Marauder, but a huge improvement over a stock Grand Marquis.
The Marauder was upgraded with front and rear Addco sway bars, but I'm still running original shocks and Air system.

I was just looking at the Strutmaster stuff for my newly acquired 04 MM. Is the ride alot softer on your GM than the MM with the kit?
