Don't over think it. We were all nervous at one time. MOST important thing is to keep your eyes peeled on the track official. He is the guy that will help you through it. Just go sit and watch for awhile, watch the hand signals, and learn them. It wouldn't hurt to google a layout of the place as well to be familiar with how they are set up.
Other than that, point it straight, leave on last yellow, and feel what is going on with your ass, and be ready to slow that heavy somebitch down. Pat yourself on the back, go finish peeing, choke a cheeseburger down and go run another!

Yeah its really not that bad. Its a rush for sure but just take it easy and if something doesn't feel right don't push it. And like previously stated if you want take you DD down it first. Who cares how fast you go on your first run? Just as long as your having fun and being safe.
And like Bob said just listen to the track officials. And don't worry about talking to the other people there and asking for advice or procedures. And leaving on the last yellow. Don't wait for the green. You see the last yellow you hit it. Your reaction time isn't faster then the lights. But don't worry about trying to get outta the hole as quick as possible on your first time.
Oh and a sidenote. It can be very addictive
