Center console woes (latch mechinism)

Hey guys I'm in the process of putting a center console in my 5 speed CV.

The console is actually not a Marauder console, its a Lincoln continental console, but the answer to my question should be the same either way as the consoles are very similar.

I bought this console off ebay from a yard in Texas or Georgia, idk remeber which, but when it got here the latch was broken/missing pieces. Like I said the console is engineered very much like the Marauder's so in therory the latch mechinism should be identical. The way the latch works on mine is there is a plastic handle you push on to release the lid, then it springs back when you let the lid down. On my console it does not spring back like it should, it's missing what I think to be a piece of spring steel that acts as the spring putting load on the latch.

What I need to know is, is it infact a piece of spring steel that I'm missing? Is there a part number for the Marauder that would possibly be the same between the Continental and Marauder consoles or would I have to make my own? And if so, what gauge steel is this piece on the Marauder?

If I'm correct the Marauder should be just like this, in which case I just need to know what gauge spring steel to buy.

Marauder console lid is flat on bottom with a hook that catches on the latch. Latch handle is on the console base and attaches to the latch that springs forward when the handle is pulled. Looks like the hook is broken off yours

Thanks for the response. The guys over at UPOA helped me figure it out. Now it works great.

I was missing that piece of spring steel and a couple studs that contain the latch to a limited motion back and forth.
