NEW PICS!!! (04/23/13) Hey! I was checking around for rear bumper covers (missed out on eBay one :mad2:), front bumper covers and a trunk or deck lid (preferably with a spoiler, but I won't be too picky). Seems to me that the Crown Vic P71 (Police) deck lid is EXACTLY the same as the Marauder one (except for the Ford logo). Is this right? What should I expect to pay for a deck lid? I have seem prices all over the place....

$8? Sound reasonable to me!!! :D

I believe any trunk lid from 98-current Marauder, Grand Marquis, Crown Vic will fit.

For what? Maybe after a few beers in Marauderville, I can get the full scoop on this $8.00 business.

The Grand Marquis lid is different, trust me I know. There is one on it now. Looks like a Crown Vic P71 lid would be a better fit.

Nonetheless, the question still stands...........

From what I have been told, the P71 trunk lid is the same as the Marauder, except for the reverse light lenses. {Marauder = smoked lens, P71 = clear lens.} Others can chime in.

This is -CORRECT-.

Same is true for the hood.

In addition to the difference in the back-up lenses, the Crown Victorias' trunk panels have 2 emblem alignment indentations in the LH (driver's side) while the Marauders do not.

The P71 models can have (and often do) black trim.

The trim of the trunk panels of the LX Sport matches that of the body color for those that are BLACK, SILVER FROST, DARK TOREADOR / MATADOR RED, DEEP WEDGEWOOD BLUE / DARK BLUE PEARL - 2001-3, MIDNIGHT GRAY / TUNGSTEN - 2004-6, DRIFTWOOD BEIGE - 2007

All others are not monochromatic. *MEANING: Chrome trim.

Post up a pic of the trunk lid and rear fascia panel..maybe it is damaged, bowed, or not aligned properly. It is the same lid for Marauder, CV, GM. The rear fascia panel can differ as gDMJoe pointed out adn the fascia for a marquis is different than Marauder or CV.
Pics speak a 1000 words..let us see what is different on yours.

It's GM trunk lid, I am sure of it. Unless I find another rear bumper deal first, I want to replace the deck lid 1st. From the rear, the car looks more like a wanna be Marauder rather than a real one. I never really liked the rear end of a GM anyway with all that red reflector crap.....

I did find a Marauder decklid for $275 shipped (no spoiler:() in "excellent condition". I am comparing that to a Crown Vic one I found for $50 that would have to be painted.

The decklid looks to need a little better fit alinemnet, it's the rear fascia panel (red reflector) that seems off. And maybe the taillights too need some tweaking. The fascia panel unbolt from the deck lid. A true marauder one might be harder to find, but they are out there. A CVPI one will need painted as the CVPI ones are black plastic and generally have the indentation for the logo. The CV/Maraduer panel does not drop down inthe middle where the reverse lights are so there will be a small gap below it with the right fascia panel but the marquis bumper cover. The decklid itself is ok, although I see a large scratch? it's the rear fascia panel you really need

Adding: Depending on how quick and of course budget you want to change the rear end look. If it were me, I would at least change the rear trunk panel, fascia panle to a CV one. Here is a ebay link for one. The reverse lights can be tinted with that tint spray avail, at autoparts stores. These cost lilke $350 and up new from Ford. but yes, it has the two small alinement holes for the CVLX badge

http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Ford-Crown-Victoria-LX-Sport-Rear-Backup-Trunk-License-Plate-Panel-1998-2002-/261194731944?fits=Model:Crown% 20Victoria&hash=item3cd06b51a8&item=261194731944&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Acce ssories&vxp=mtr#ht_2201wt_972

Then I would change the rear bumper cover to a black CV one with no chrome trim in the bumper line. It looks much closer to a Maruder rear cover. maruder rear covers are going to be hard to find and a CV on should be easy..try your local area Junkyards, u pull it etc. and try car-part.com and search for particpating junkyards in your area.

At least then it would not like a marquis.

Good Stuff! Thanks alot. I didn't realize that panel came off. That is really all I would need. But, from just doing a quick search, it seems that the "perfect" black Marauder decklid for $275 shipped don't seem like a bad deal!

I was hoping that deck lids would be a little cheaper! :bigcry:

I didn't realize that panel came off. It's very easy, it just unbolts from the back.

I hated the giant red billboard on my DD along with the big ugly chrome strip so I swapped the fascia and taillights for ones from a CVPI and it looks a million percent better. I was even able to make the "Grand Marquis GS" badge fit right where the "Police Interceptor" one was, so it looks factory.

If I remember correctly the GM lid is different but close. There is some notching on the GM lid near the bumper area that the CV and MM lids don't have.

Of course the panel on the MM lid is color matched and the CV lid is black.

All the lens on the MM are smoked.

The deck lid is the same, the difference is just the rear panel or fascia panel. The GM drops down with the reverse lights lower than Cv or Marauder to match the Gm bumper cover's indentations. You'll see it inthe pic he posted.

And don't forget the small bolts in the front. *Top of license plate indent.

Ok, here is what I found. Let me know what you all think. The first is an old taxi cab (yellow) and panel looks ok except for yellow overspray and stickers. Should be an easy fix and I could clean it and paint it myself. They told me $35 pulled.
The other is a Crown Vic Lx Sport! It is red. Notice, though, the bottom piece of the trim panel is loose, but not broken. I guess it could be glued?
The entire trunk lid (which I don't really need, but could resell with the GM stuff put on it) for $45 pulled and the rear bumper cover (exact condition hard to tell since it is kinda layin on the ground on the driver's side. Seems ok though. $35. Taillights $25 each. Also has the whole center console FYI.

There were a couple more, but they were on the bottom of a stack of three cars. Don't know how I would even get the trunk open. The LKQ's and other chain one's sure are in love with their parts (if you compare prices). They wanted like $250 for a decklid.

This one is better. They won't give me a price until I show up and the guy checks out how much is involved in taking it out.
