View Full Version : Squeak at idle on cold starts

Hey everyone,
I was just curious what is making my Marauder squeak after a cold start. It's quite pronounced right away, but will go away after a few minutes. I wonder if it's a belt or perhaps a pulley? I've got about 98k miles on it now and just took it out of storage, where it was sitting for the last 3 weeks. When I took it out beforehand, it did not do that.
Thanks in advance.
Chad.

Might be the drive belt tensioner. I had the same problem, @ 75,000.

Belt tensioner or alternator.

Replace the tensioner, idler and belt. I recommend the Gatorback belt.
Belts:
Serpentine (NAPA) – PBH4060923 - stock
Gatorback (Goodyear) – 4060922 - stock
Belt Tensioner:
Dayco – 305291
Goodyear – 49293
Idler Pulleys:
Dayco (smooth) - 89007
FoMoCo (ribbed) - YW7Z-8678-AA

Have you tried to narrow down the squeak at all? Is it coming from under the hood? Underneath the car?

I'd replace the idler, tensioner & belt at the same time since they all get the same use. Throw the old belt in the trunk to use as a spare.
