Im curious as to what you guys like for scan tools or pc based software. Im sick and tired of otc scantools going obsolete. I have an el cheepo scantool that will read engine data only, but am having issues with abs and transmission and cannot get into the data. looks like autoenginuity has a decent setup for a laptop that will get into abs, srs,and powertrain for about 500$...also lets you bleed abs unit, data loging, etc. however they dont state all the systems covered for the 03'merc, i did not e mail them as of yet. any advice or oppinions?? thanks, bill

I have an Actron CP9580 that will read ABS codes, and do real-time drive-cycle monitoring along with state OBD-II checks for I/M monitor state. It was only like $200 at VatoZone.

thanks rf, but at this point I am looking to be able to have a scantool with two way communications for use as bleeding brakes, etc. The one I have is a auto x-ray which is good for general engine problems but that's about it. Just looking for the best bang for the buck, so to speak. The auto x-ray has a freeze frame feature, but shows verry litle data stream for the vehicle its hooked up to.
